Association urges training of more anaesthetist nurses

National Chairman for Nigeria Association of Nurse Anaesthetists, NANA, Mr Saidu Abugi Ibrahim, yesterday charged health institution in the country to expedite action in the sponsorship and training of more nurses in the area anaesthetic nursing for effective service delivery.
Ibrahim gave the charge in Calabar at the close of a two day conference organised by the association stressing that during the outbreak of epidemics like Ebola, yellow fever and cholera, practitioners in the area of anaesthetists were always needed to play a crucial role in combating the scourges of these epidemics and called for training of practitioners to become conversant with latest trends in the industry for effective service delivery.
“There are contemporary issues in the qualitative and quantitative health care delivery for all in our society and the anaesthetist plays a formidable role combating diseases like ebola, yellow fever and cholera among others so we have to update our knowledge regularly to be conversant with trends in anaesthetics in order to be effective”.
The association’s chairman stated that the call became imperative given the fact that often times health institutions do require the services of anaesthetics nurses adding that there was need for more nurses to be sent for training to enable these crop of nurses acquire more skill in the area of anaesthetics.
