Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Alhaji Momoh Jimoh-Lawal was yesterday impeached along with his Deputy, Ali Akuh and Minority Leader, Hassan Bello.
Jimoh-Lawal was impeached over allegations of incompetence in the running of the affairs of the Assembly.
Before the announcement of his replacement, Jimoh-Lawal insisted he was still the speaker.
Addressing newsmen in Lokoja, Chairman of the Committee on Information, John Abbah stated that the action of ‘17 members’ of the Assembly to remove Jimoh-Lawal as speaker should not be seen as novel, but imperative, in view of the demand to remove him before now.
Meanwhile, the House has elected his replacement, Godwin Osuyi, while John Abbah was elected as the new deputy and Eneche Ojochemenemi Linus became the new minority leader.
The newly elected speaker, Godwin Osuy,i said the impeachment had nothing to do with the political situation in the state.
 Osuyi adjourned to December 16.
