Food thought.

70% 70% 70% 70% 70% When we die, our money remains in the bank... Yet, when we are alive, we don't have enough money to spend. In reality, when we are gone, there is still a lot of money not spent. One business tycoon in China passed away. His widow, left with $1.9 billion in the bank, married his chauffeur. His chauffeur said:- "All the while, I thought I was working for my boss... it is only now, that I realize that my boss was all the time, working for me !!!" The cruel reality is: It is more important to live longer than to have more wealth. So, we must strive to have a strong and healthy body, It really doesn't matter who is working for who. In a high end hand phone, 70% of the functions are useless! For an expensive car, 70% of the speed and gadgets are not needed. If you own a luxurious villa or mansion, 70% of the space is usually not used or occupied. How about your wardrobes of clothes? 70% of them are not worn! A whole life of work and earning... 70% is for other people to spend. So, we must protect and make full use of our 30%. Go for medical check-ups even if not sick. Drink more water, even if not thirsty. Learn to let go, even if faced with grave problems. Endeavour to give in, even if you are in the right. Remain humble, even if you are very rich and powerful. learn to be contented, even if you are not rich. Exercise your mind and body, even if you are very busy. Make time for people you care about LIFE IS SHORT... ENJOY & LIVE LIFE TO THE FULLEST!!! Handbook 2016 HEALTH Drink Plenty of water. EAT: Breakfast like a KING, Lunch like a Prince & Dinner like a beggar. Live with the 3 E's-- Energy, Enthusiasm & Empathy. Make time to PRAY. Play more games. Read more books than you did in 2014 and 2015 Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day. Sleep for 7 hours. Take a 10-30 minutes walk daily And while you walk, Smile. PERSONALITY Don't over do. Keep your limits. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip. Dream more while you are awake. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need. Forget issues of the past. Don't remind your partner with his/her mistakes of the past. That will ruin your present Happiness. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. Don't hate others. Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present. No one is in charge of your happiness except you. Smile and Laugh More. You don't have to win every argument, Agree to disagree. SOCIETY Call your family often. Each day give something good to others. Forgive everyone for everything. Spend time with people over the age of 70 & under the age of 6. Try to make at least three people smile each day. What other people think of you is none of your business. LIFE Do the right thing! God heals everything. However good or bad a situation is, it will change. No matter how you feel, Get up, Dress up and Show up. The best is yet to come. When awake in the morning Thank GOD for it. Your Inner most is always happy. So, be Happy. LAST BUT NOT THE LEAST Please Forward this To Everyone plus other groups with Whom You Care about I JUST DID !!!

9/06/2016 YOU NEED ENEMIES While I was pondering about life, I discovered that: Sometimes, to succeed in life you need ENEMIES! Yes! You need people who will mock you, so that you can run to God. You need people who will try to intimidate you, so that you can be courageous. You need people who will say "NO" so that you can learn how to be independent...I mean how to do it yourself. You need people who will disappoint you so that you can put all your trust in God alone. You need people who will work towards you loosing that job, so that you can start your own big business. You need people who will sell your 'Joseph' so that 'you' can get to Egypt and be a Prime Minister in a strange land of captivity You need a cruel landlord, so that you won't be too comfortable in someone else's house, then you can build your own house on time. But sometimes, when we are disappointed, we feel very bad and we tend to remain on that spot. Not knowing that the end-point of disappointment is the beginning of your accomplishments. Understand this, "that every disappointment you once had came with a blessing!" However, it is not everyone that partakes in this blessing that I'm talking about. You cannot see a new OPEN door while you are still putting all your attention, time and energy in trying to force the closed one to open. And again I say, "No disappointment can ever come without an attached blessing!" So, when the disappointment come, thank God for it and tell "HIM" to open your eyes to see the new blessing that HE has for you! Disappointment is PHASE1 while accomplishment is PHASE2. I doubt if one can jump the protocols. That is why it is called BREAKTHROUGH Something must BREAK so that you can go THROUGH! Have a wonderful day🍞☕

BY THE CABLEJUN 08, 2016 Nigerian football icon Stephen Okechukwu Keshi died suddenly in the early hours of Wednesday in Benin City, Edo state, TheCable understands. The former international football player and coach had lost his wife of 33 years, Kate, last year after a prolonged battle with cancer. TheCable confirmed his death from a member of his family as well as one of his close associates. “He was not ill at all, never showed any signs of  illness, but we suspect he never got over the death of his wife,” a friend said. He is survived by four children and his mother. Keshi, the only Nigerian coach to have won the Africa Cup of Nations, achieved a rare feat in 2013 by becoming only the second person to win the trophy both as a player and a coach. The only other person to have achieved the feat is Egypt’s Mahmoud El-Gohary. Keshi, a product of St. Finbarr’s College, Akoka, Lagos, started his playing career at a very young age at ACB Football Club, and later played for New Nigeria Bank, Stade d’Abidjan, Africa Sports, Lokeren, Anderlecht, RC Strasbourg, and a host of other clubs. He represented Nigeria from 1982, at age 20, till 1994, most of the time captaining the Super Eagles and scoring vital goals from his position as a central defender. He also coached Togo and Nigeria at the World Cup, as well as Mali. Keshi, nicknamed the “Big Boss” for his leadership skills, is the fifth member of the all-conquering 1994 team to die, following Uche Okafor, Thompson Oliha, Rashidi Yekini and Wilfred Agbonavbare. Breaking: Niger Delta group vows to bomb Aso Rock, National Assembly, NNPC, others

Breaking: Niger Delta group vows to bomb Aso Rock, National Assembly, NNPC, others
Niger Delta group, the Joint Niger Delta Liberation Force, on Monday reiterated its decision to unleash six missiles on the country.
The missiles, according to the JNDLF last week, would be released on Tuesday (tomorrow).
In a statement on Monday, the group named its targets, advising those occupying the buildings to vacate them.
Top on the list of the target of the militants, according to the statement, are the Presidential Villa in Abuja; the headquarters of the Department of State Services, also in Abuja; the Defence Headquarters, Abuja; National Assembly, Abuja; and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Towers, Abuja.
Others include the Police Headquarters in Abuja; Central Bank of Nigeria; headquarters of some multinational oil companies; and the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal headquarters.
The statement, signed by General Akotebe Darikoro, Commander, General Duties; General Torunanaowei Latei, Creeks Network Coordinator; General Agbakakuro Owei-Tauro, Pipelines Bleeding Expert; and General Pulokiri Ebiladei, Intelligence Bureau, said the decision to notify the occupants of the buildings to vacate them was because the aim of their struggle was not to destroy lives.
The statement, unedited, reads in full:
“In our final meeting it was resolved that the Nigerian Communication Satellite Orbit should be shut down so that it will avoid the cause of
electronic radiation to human lives.
“Also, the followings occupants of these buildings should as a matter of urgency vacate in them immediately IN THEIR OWN INTEREST to save their lives because our fight is not for ANY HUMAN BLOOD but to destroy all those infrastructures that were built with our oil and gas monies in this country. We will make federal government and oil companies to suffer as they have made the people of Niger Delta region suffers over the years from environmental degradation, and environmental pollution.
They include:
1. STATE HOUSE, VILLA- ABUJA
2. DEFENCE HEADQUARTERS
3. DSS HEADQUARTERS
4. POLICE HEADQUARTERS
5. NATIONAL ASSENBLY
6. NNPC TOWERS
7. CENTRAL BANK OF NIGERIA
8. SUPREME COURT/APPEAL COURT
9. AGIP HEADQUARTERS, ABUJA
10. SHELL HEADQUARERS, LAGOS
11. CHEVRON HEADQUARTERS, LAGOS
12. EXXON MOBIL, LAGOS
13. NLNG, LAGOS & ABUJA OFFICES
14. KADUNA REFINERY
15. ALL MILITARY FORMATIONS IN ABUJA, LAGOS, KADUNA, BENUE, ETC.
“We shall fire these Missiles’ simultaneously at the night, as this will enable every Nigerians to see the movement of the MISSILES and equally to believe us of our seriousness attached to the final breakup as predicted by the United States of America (USA).
“We equally advise the Diplomatic Community to be neutral on this issue as wrong comments against us will be seen as saboteurs. Where they are staying presently will not be affected which is not part of our targeted areas of destruction in the country.
“We shall embarrass the self acclaimed Nigerian Air Force with their recent deployment of fighter aircraft, helicopter gunship and surveillance aircraft when at this digital age, countries are talking about Missile development, and they still condescend so low of their present obsolete equipment. This is sad indeed!”
“Note, we are going to destroy the ones they have deployed to Escravos, Forcados in Delta State; Bonga oil field, Agbami offshore and Brass in Bayelsa; Bony in Rivers; Qua Iboe Terminal in Akwa Ibom State, and Opuekeba in Ondo State if they fails to remove them before time. Our crack team has taken inventory of their equipments. Even the present suffering from a rare ear disease known as Meniere’s disease by President Muhammadu Buhari will not win any sympathy to save our action against the federal government.
The name Nigeria as a country will come to an end this week.
“The so called military operations code named ‘OPERATION PULO SHIELD’ in the Niger Delta region who our partners in the oil bunkering activities, because presently without been told the former JTF Commander, Major-General Emmanuel Atewe who was arrested by the EFCC last week over pipelines surveillance contract amounts to N8.2 billion in the region, is an eye opener to the federal government that the military are fully involved in illegal bunkering in the area.
They only destroy those who could not afford their bidding and further lobby to come to the Niger Delta region because of what they are gaining from the area.
“Imagine, an Army private’s and corporals from the North could build business plaza of 3 storeys with several estate and other buildings including exotic cars to the detriment of the region? The Pharaoh of Nigeria (Buhari) should take the counsel of sycophants and jesters around him of the region especially Mr.
Ayiri Emami and Professor Ita Sagey who are presently in our searchlight. The founder of the Niger Delta Ex-Agitators, Israel Akpodoro, is a dead man and that he should not hide for linking former President, Goodluck Jonathan and Governor Seriake Dickson with the Avengers. We are not in ANY community, the Military can’t locate Tompolo but we have identified where he is now.
“Presently, Tompolo is in Libya and we’ll get him dead or alive for betraying us in supporting the federal government against us.
“Nigerian Military has weak intelligence gathering mechanism hence they could not identify our modu oparandi. Nigerian military is only good in carrying AK47 to harass innocent people and raping young girls and women.
“If the oil companies especially Shell and Chevron spents billions of naira to only undertake repairs of damaged oil and gas pipelines in the region, when such funds were better channeled for the payments of Bonga oil spill in 2011 and Chevron gas explosion in Koluama, Bayelsa state in 2012 would have saved them from these bombing and their present predicament would have been a thing of the past. Since they don’t want to hear, we’ll continue to break the pipelines until they do the needful for our old parents at home because that is the only language the companies and federal government hears in the country from the region.”

SaharaReporters learned that Mr. Saraki called on Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed to provide the cash to enable the senator to provide largesse to his supporters in Ilorin at the start of the Ramadan season. This is not the first time that a gargantuan sum of cash connected to Mr. Saraki grew wings and disappeared. Last year, agents of the Department of State Security (DSS) attached to the embattled Senate President stole a huge sum of money that the owner of a bureau de change, who is a cousin of former military Head of State, Abdulsalami Abubakar, was ferrying to Mr. Saraki. Several months after their arrest, the DSS agents have yet to be formally charged to court for robbery, SaharaReporters found out. A source within the agency told our correspondent that the DSS and Mr. Saraki were colluding to cover up the case. “Senator Saraki does not want the public to start asking questions about the source of the money. And the DSS does not want the role of our agents to become public knowledge,” the source disclosed. Two reliable sources in Ilorin confirmed the latest heist of the illicit cash approved by Governor Ahmed of Kwara State and sent to Mr. Saraki’s home in the state capital. Mr. Saraki, a former governor of Kwara State, had anointed Mr. Ahmed as his successor. One of our sources claimed that this was the second time in a month that large sums of money disappeared from the Senate President’s Ilorin mansion. A police source in the state disclosed that detectives had quizzed and released the accountant to Mr. Saraki and several of his security and domestic aides. The source added that their hasty release was apparently a measure to ensure that the financial scandal did not attract publicity or media attention.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

5/06/2016 😭Hmmmmmmmm😭 food for thought!!!!!. This is a master piece.  If you have not read it take the time to read it now.  If you have read it take time to read it again!  GEORGE CARLIN  (His wife recently died....)          Isn't it amazing that George Carlin - comedian of the 70's and 80's - could write something so very eloquent...and so very appropriate.   A Message by George Carlin:  The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways , but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.  We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.  We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.  We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things.  We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.  These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete...  Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.  Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.  Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent.  Remember, to say, 'I love you' to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. An embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.  Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.  Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.  AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:  Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away. . George Carlin

THIS IS REALLY WORTH READING, PLS READ AND ALSO SHARE

This is really worth your reading! 祝身体永远健康,香港伊利沙伯医院临床肿瘤科唐志聪医生编写 : Wishing you good health always - Doctor Tang from St. Elizabeth Hospital, Hong Kong wrote this: ⛄}《人,只要脾、肝、大肠、肾,四个功能健康,就能永远离开癌症、糖尿病、心脏病、高血压。 We, human being, as long as our spleen, liver, large intestine and kidney are healthy, we will be far away from cancer, diabetes, heart attack and high blood pressure. Keeping the Spleen healthy must be top priority. Once you are sick, you must work on the recovery of your spleen first. Our daily three meals should contain 50% of grains/wheat/brown rice, must learn to make it as part of our eating habit and diet. Grain crops are red bean, soya bean, green bean and Chinese Pearl barley. Lotus seeds are also good. Once your spleen is good, your liver will automatically be healthy. Spleen is the organ that is manufacturing blood. The important schedules for processing are 12:00 am and 12:00 pm. Thus, when you need to rest, you must rest. Nowadays, they are a lot of people who are having liver problems. Why is it? .. Sleeping late, eating oily and fried foods and bad mood, these are the three nemesis. When you eat oily foods, oil will cover up your whole liver, your liver will loss its functions. When we are feeling uncomfortable, the sickness is coming to rectify our negligence, using pain to educate us, we must change our way of living. Every morning, do you find difficulty to pass motion? What does that mean? Your intake of fibre is not enough. .. Thousands of sickness main problems are caused by the inability to perform daily passing motion through the large intestine. .. If your large intestine is good form, in the morning, you will be woken up by the movement of your large intestine calling you. Why? .. Because 5:00 am to 7:00 am, our large intestine is most actively performing it's functions. That's why we inform cancer patients must go to sleep at 9:00 pm. Because large intestine will automatically wake you up between 6:00 am to 7:00 am to sit on the toilet bowl. How many times you must go to toilet everyday? Please remember, if it's 4-5 days, you are seriously in constipated. 2-3 days once, considered as medium level of constipation. Once a day is mild constipation. .. Once the foods is maintained inside our stomach for 12 hours, it became poisonous particles. Because the poisonous particles are not passing out, it will be absorbed by the large intestinal wall, which then will send back to the liver, thus, damaging our liver. This will create a serious problem. There is a direct relationship between our liver and large intestine. Once our large intestine is passable, liver will get recover, and build-up our antibody. Then, blood delivery to heart will be clean and no sickness will attack you. .. When you always feel tired or very easy to get tired, that means you are having problems with the liver, your blood is unable to return back to your liver. What is your health depending on? While you are sleeping, your spleen is going to collect blood and deliver to the liver for dialysis. After cleaning and filtering up the poisonous particles, it will then deliver to the heart, the heart will then despatch throughout your body. You then received nutrients and get healthy. Unfortunately, nowadays people are having problems with their spleen. Spleen itself is not storing blood. There is only one method to maintain healthy spleen, eating grains/oat/wheat are the most effective way. Why modern body is so poor, with so many sicknesses? .. Because they don't eat grains/oat, they eat burgers, fried chicken, steak, French fries, white rice. You must eat the source foods like brown rice, oat, wheat. Recovering back the functionality of the four main organs, sickness will leave you. Be patient and read this over several times and take good care of yourselves. This week is "world friendship week", send this message to all of your good friends. .. Most people are noticing how high you can fly, but very few people are taking note of how tired you are? However busy you are, you must take good care of yourself. Though friends are not always communicating with you but they have you in their mind. When the weather is cold, you must wear enough to keep warm. Happy world friendship day! Drink less milk tea and stay far away from charging port. Day time drink more water, night time drink less. One day shouldn't drink more than 2 cups of coffee. Eat less oily foods. Best sleeping times are from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am. Evening time, don't eat too much after 5:00 pm. Don't drink more than one cup of alcoholic drink per day. Don't eat medicines with cold water, eat medicines half hour before going to bed. Never eat medicines immediately laying down. Don't sleep for less than 8 hours per day. Having nap in the noon hour will keep you young and not age easily. Once your handphone battery is left with only one bar, don't make calls anymore, because the radiation wave is one thousand times higher than fully charged battery. Use your left ear to answer calls, right ear will directly hurt your brain. New Concept in 2016, good health is most important, much more than any other things. Two basic points: greet everything in life with an elegant and cheerful approach. Three things need to forget: forget your age, forget your past and forget your grievances. Four things you must have. CJN COMMENDS J.K GADZAMA LAW FIRM FOR MENTORING YOUNG LAWYERS

3/06/2016 CJN commends law firm for mentoring young lawyers Mahmud Mohammed CJN Mahmud Mohammed CJN Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Mahmud Mohammed (CJN), penultimate week Tuesday in Abuja, commended the law firm of Chief J-K Gadzama (SAN) for its large scale mentoring programme for young lawyers in the country and urged other law firms to emulate it. He made this statement at the official commissioning of the corporate headquarters of the law firm, J-K Gadzama Court. He said: “I wish to comment upon the commitment of J-K Gadzama LLP to the improvement of the quality of legal practitioners through its mentoring programme. Although not a new initiative, it has doubtless become a gold standard in the type of positive improvement that firms can and must make to the lives of our young legal practitioners I hope the firm continues to take on law school students and our younger colleagues who will seek much needed Chamber attachment and pupilage under it, given the sheer size and area of the building, I have no doubt that it can” the CJN stated. In his welcome address, Chief J-K Gadzama (SAN) said: “ Our firm was accredited about a decade ago and registered by the Nigerian Bar Association ( NBA) as a Legal Education provider. As part of our corporate social responsibility to the legal profession, a mentorship programme named after renowned Justice Chukwudifu Akunne Oputa ( JSC) of blessed memory will commence in this quarter for young lawyers who are below ten years post call. The aim of this programme is to equip these young lawyers with the requisite skills, knowledge and values to enable them deal with everyday legal practice, which they require, but lack due to their infancy at the Bar. This is important as the future of our beloved legal profession lies in the hands of these young lawyers who will one day, be at the helm of affairs in the profession. “ It is therefore imperative to ensure their overall development and capacity building to efficiently carry the mantle, revolutionise the legal profession in tandem with modern trends and do greater deeds than we have done. I encourage us all to imbibe this idea for I strongly believe that most of us here never had the chance to benefit from such during our early days at the Bay” Gadzama stated Highlighting the aims and objectives of the mentoring programme, Gadzama said: “The essence of mentoring is for the mentor to help the mentee become better in a particular area.

NIGERIAN COMMUNITY WHERE OLD WOMEN MARRY YOUNG LADIES

Nigerian Community Where Old Women Marry Young Ladies June 4th, 2016 by admin Eighty-three-year old Nwanyidinma looked disconsolate as she sat in front of her thatched, mud house. There was no one to keep her company apart from her little ‘bingo’ dog and a host of chicken strolling round her premises. Occasionally, she used the horsetail in her hands to chase the dog away from the chicken. In the animal world, it would not be out of place to conclude that the animals were playing hide and seek in this peaceful environment. That, however, is not for Nwanyidinma. The weather was cool and breezy and so she was just out there watching the movement of the leafy orange trees and palm trees in her neighbourhood. Beyond this natural scene, Nwanyidinma has a heavy heart. Not that she has lost anybody in recent times, but she has a bigger burden occupying her inner recess as she watches the dog, the chicken and the trees. But Nwanyidinma’s three remaining children (all females) and those close to the octogenarian know too well her challenge. Her bigger headache borders on what happens to her late husband’s property if she passes on. Her husband had died several years ago. Her only son had also passed on. In fact, her son died in his early 20s; unmarried. As the tradition in her Mbaise community demands, women have no right to inheritance of property, especially landed property. And here lies the octogenarian’s headache. Her three daughters are living happily with their husbands and children. So who takes over all her husband’s landed property? Who takes over the pear trees, palm trees and other natural inheritance belonging to her husband? Will her husband’s brothers/relations inherit all the wealth and property, things she and her husband laboured strenuously to acquire? By the way, before her husband died, there was an estranged relationship between him and his brothers, an action that further severed their relationship. Will these ‘enemies’, as it were, now take over all the wealth? For Nwanyidinma, this dilemma, more than any other thing, occupied her mind. However, from a neighbouring village, information has it that a young unmarried girl had been impregnated. The person who she claimed got her pregnant had denied paternity and her parents were on the verge of disowning her for ‘shaming’ them. So as the octogenarian relaxed in front of her house, she was thinking of how she would send a delegation to the young girl’s family to seek her hand in marriage. If the girl’s family agreed, she would bring her and her unborn child to her home. The overall game plan is perhaps that if she puts to bed and the child is a boy, he will naturally belong to the family. Few weeks later, Nwanyidinma did just that. She went and married the pregnant young lady, whose unborn child, she believed, would automatically become her grandchild and a bona fide heir of her property. Indeed, there are so many likes of Nwanyidinma in some Igbo communities, especially in Mbaise, who ‘marry’ other women in order to have male children in their homes. These ‘female husbands’ as they are known, are practising a tradition that is long accepted in the communities and which has gone a long way to solve a need, a need to perpetuate a family name. Charity Igbokwe, from Ahiazu Mbaise is another typical example of a ‘female husband’. The 68-year-old widow had an only son, Donald Igbokwe, who had died in an accident over 30 years ago. He was unmarried. But Donald’s name has not gone into extinct. His aged mother made sure she married a woman for him ten years ago and the young lady has had four children –three boys and a girl- for the deceased. Igbokwe, while speaking to our correspondent, said it was necessary she married a woman for her late child in order to keep his name alive. “What I did was just the normal thing anybody in my place would do. My child died tragically. He was my only son. My husband had died many years ago. So I had to marry a woman for my late son. My son’s wife now has four children. The children of course, answer Donald’s name.” Social but not sexual marriage Granted, in Igbo land, marriage is basically between a man and woman. However, there are cases where marriage between a woman and another woman is permissible. It is important to note at this point that in this case, it is not in any way, lesbian marriage even though it is same gender marriage. The marriage is traditionally and socially acceptable but it is not sexual. There is certainly no sexual attraction between the ‘female husband’ and the person being married for either late husband or son, as the case may be. Explaining more on this issue, a community leader in Onicha, a community in Ezinihitte Mbaise, Nze Ebere Iwuagwu, told Saturday Punch, that the females in question do not really go to a lady’s family and seek her hand in marriage. However, he said, the woman goes out, looks for the wife, makes the necessary enquiry about the person and then provides the bride price and other necessary stuff required for the marriage to hold. Iwuagwu said the female husbands are always accompanied by male relatives who would be the ones to actually ask for the lady’s hand in marriage from her family. “In our community, women don’t really ask for the hands of the women in marriage, traditionally. But everybody knows the new wife belongs to the female husbands, but during the course of marriage rites, the ‘female husband’ stays at the background. “In a case where the woman’s husband is dead, then her late husband’s male relatives will accompany her and would even be the one to marry the wife in his name. A woman can’t just get up and go to a family and say she wants to marry another woman from that family, it is not done! However, after the marriage ceremony, when they get home, everybody knows that the new wife is the ‘property’ of the aged woman and she would live in her domain,” he said. Iwuagwu said this tradition which is almost as old as forever, has become the norm and both parties – the female husband and the wife- are not stigmatised in any way.” ‘Why we marry wives into our homes’ Most of the women who marry wives are usually elderly and have passed the age of child bearing. In most cases, the woman may have been childless or had just female children. The women just want heirs who would take over their property and wealth when they are gone. Explaining why she had to marry a wife for her late husband, 70-year-old Adanma Ikem from Ezinihitte Mbaise, said she had had four children, two males, but her sons had died tragically even before they could get married. “Two of my sons died when they were in their 20s. Their death was so painful. I cried my heart out. I cried not only because I lost my children, of course, it was a painful experience, but I cried because I just thought of how my husband’s name would just die like that. Who would perpetuate the name? Our lineage would just be forgotten. My husband had died earlier on. My daughters had married. So I was left with no other choice. “I went to a neighbouring village and I was lucky, I found a girl who was pregnant and she was willing to be a part of my family. I and my relatives went and paid her bride price. She has been living with me for many years now and she has five children, three boys. The children are mine now and at least, our family name will not just die like that,” she said. In other scenario, a woman who didn’t have a son could actually ‘marry’ a wife for her ‘fictitious’ son for the same reason as procreation. Madam Angela Ugwuani, 75, is one of such women who didn’t want her family name to go into extinction. Ugwuani who had five daughters, didn’t marry the young wife for her husband, rather, she got a wife for a son she never really had. “I didn’t have a male child. I know that. But I still couldn’t allow my family name to die. Somebody told me about this girl who just had an unwanted pregnancy and I enquired about her. I and my husband’s relatives married her under our native law,” she said. Ugwuani’s case is similar to that of 62-year-old Sabina Njoku, a retired primary school teacher. In Njoku’s case, she is childless and she needed her home to be alive with children. “I wasn’t blessed with a child in my marriage and back then, adopting a child wasn’t fashionable. In fact, in my village, it was more acceptable to go and marry a wife that would have children for you than to even adopt a baby. So, I had to (with my husband’s relatives of course) marry a wife into my husband’s home. She has been delivered of so many children,” she said. Biological fathers just ‘sperm donors’ Interestingly, even after the woman (new wife) starts procreating and giving births to children, the kids would automatically bear her surname (expectedly, she would have changed her maiden name to that of the family that married her) regardless of who the biological father of the child/children may be. Nobody actually remembers the biological fathers of these children. In fact, they could best be described as sperm donors; they certainly do not have any other responsibility on the woman or the child she eventually gives birth to. Iwuagwu explained that there will never be any point where the man would come out and claim he is the father of any of the children the woman eventually gives birth to. “It is never done! The man doesn’t come into the picture at all. There is no way the man would come out and claim paternity of the children. Nobody will even listen to him. He doesn’t have any parental right to the children. The children conceived in this kind of arrangement would bear the late man’s name even if their biological father does exist. “Even if the children become governors or presidents tomorrow, their biological father can never come out to claim them as his. There is nothing like paternity test. Don’t be surprised, the woman may not necessarily inform the man about her pregnancy. Even if the child ends up having a striking resemblance with the biological father, nobody would relate them openly in any way,” he said. Saturday Punch findings revealed that most of the men who impregnate these women are usually married men who wouldn’t want to expose their escapades. “The woman can even go as far as sleeping with men from neighbouring village. Smarter ones go far away to have relationships and consequent pregnancies. But then, in all, both parties know the reason for the relationship. The man will not come to claim the child and the woman will not go to him for any financial help towards raising the child,” said Uduma Ike, a village head in a community in Aboh Mbaise. Ike also said that the ‘female husband’ takes care of the children and sees to their financial needs. “It is the female husband who is now the head of the home that takes care of the wife and the children that she will have in that family. Nobody expects the biological fathers of the children to contribute to their welfare. Even if the fathers would help, they wouldn’t do so openly. If the child is sick, there is no way the woman will take the child to the man and ask for money for hospital bills even if he was the one that got her pregnant. She dared not even tell anybody in the village that it was this or that man that got her pregnant,” Ikem said. ‘We are married women in every sense’ Cynthia Obiajulu, (not real names) 26, got married five years ago, to a man she never met or heard of. Her supposed husband had died so many years ago and his first wife, Udoka, who didn’t have any male child, had married her into the family. Obiajulu, who now has three kids, all boys, refused to tell our correspondent who the biological father of her kids is but insisted that she is ‘legally’ married. “I don’t think it is proper to ask me who the father of my children is. It is private. But the truth of the matter is that I am a married woman and my husband is late. Whether my late husband is the father of my children, it is not anybody’s business. But my children are answering their father’s name and nobody would claim that he fathered them; that is absurd.” Obiajulu, who said she has a fantastic relationship with her older co wife and the person who ‘married’ her, said she also has strong respect for her. “She is my mother. My children call her ‘Mama’. They regard her as the mother and not grandmother. My kids even see me as a big sister and not their mother. I have a great relationship with mama. It was through her that I came to live here. “Even though I am traditionally married into this home, I have my place. I don’t disrespect mama. We don’t have equal rights in this house. She is my benefactor and she would be the one that takes care of us,” she said. Uchechi Eziudo, from Ahiara Mbaise is another example of a woman married to a ‘female husband’. Eziudo, in her early 30s, said she was raped at an early age of seventeen and she got pregnant thereafter. “Nobody could touch me with a long spoon. Nobody wanted to have anything to do with me. Even my parents were so embarrassed of me as if I wanted or enjoyed to be raped. “So when this family from a neighbouring community came to marry me for an aged man who was more than 60 years older than me, I had to accept. It wasn’t as if I jumped at it but I had no choice. “It was actually his wife who initiated the plans of bringing another wife to the family since she was childless and since the man was very old. She wanted somebody who would have kids so that the family name would not die. “Our husband died just two years after I was married. But I have had four kids since then. Nobody worries me or asks me who got me pregnant each time. I am a married woman and nobody feels I am doing anything morally wrong,” she said. No stigma attached As much as some people may feel it is adultery/ fornication, but in these communities, it is not regarded as such! There is no way the offspring that come from this arrangement would be seen as bastards. Mrs. Edith Azuka, a native of Aumuariam, Obowo, in a chat with Saturday Punch on the issue, said there is no Igbo man that would find such a union distasteful. “I doubt if there is anybody that would condemn this act. It has been traditionally and socially accepted in these communities. There is nothing wrong with it. It doesn’t make the women less moral. It doesn’t mean they are prostitutes. The children conceived in this process are not bastards and nobody would dare to ask them ‘who is your father?’ Of course, we all know that question is the highest insult you can give to any Igbo man or woman.” ‘I am not a bastard, I know my father’ Because of its sensitive nature, getting children conceived in such arrangement to open up was not so easy as most of them threatened to deal with our correspondent for asking such question. Ebenezer Azu, (not real name), a third year student of Imo State University, who decided to talk to our correspondent after being promised that his identity would be protected, said he knew about his history but doesn’t have the powers to do anything about it. “I am not silly. When I became an adult, I learnt my father had died so many years ago, even before I was born. Curiosity made me to ask questions. I asked and persisted before my mother had to open up to tell me the whole story. “She refused to tell me who my biological father is. But then, I will not call myself a bastard. I know my father. He is late. Even though I never met him, I still believe he was my father. I cannot allow myself to worry over things and circumstances that are beyond my powers. Since nobody has tried to insult me, there is no reason for me to feel bad about it,” he said. Also, a lawyer, Ndidi Osigwe (not real names) said she found out much later in life about her history but still believes that she has one father and not even the person whose genes she carries. “Our mother had five of us. It got to a stage when I was much older, I had to wonder why most of us don’t look like her or like the picture of the person they said was our father. It aroused my curiosity and I had to ask my grandma who I am close to. She was the one that told me the circumstances surrounding our birth. I am not worried. All I know is that I have a father, I cannot say that I am a bastard, never!” From a sociologist point of view Giving more insight on same gender marriage, a sociologist, Mr. Monday Ahibogwu, said the issue is a prevalent one and has been in practice for a long time. “It has been there and there are some reasons for this. If the man in the family is not mentally balanced and he is the only progenitor in that family, a woman in the family can decide to marry a wife on behalf of their brother who is deranged. The new wife would be excused to have male friends who would get her pregnant and then, her children will still bear the name of the man who is not mentally balanced. This is culturally acceptable. “Also, in a family where all the children are females and they are all grown up and married, one of them can decide to marry a wife in their late father’s name. The sons the woman will have will be for her father. She has her own children but she marries a wife for her father in order to be children in her father’s house. “Then again, there are also women who marry wives for their husbands because they couldn’t conceive. These are the reasons why some of these things happen.” Anibogwu reiterated that children conceived in such arrangement are usually not stigmatised. “You cannot stigmatise them; it is even forbidden to stigmatise them. You may even be ostracised by the community if you try to stigmatise them. They are part and parcel of the community. The reason they are brought into this world was to fill a gap. If a child feels bad that he is conceived in such arrangement, then that is his personal feeling and not the feeling of the society.” Anibogwu also added there is no way the biological father would try to claim the children. “Remember, in Igbo land, if you have not paid the bride price of a woman and she has kids for you, no matter what, the children belong to her family and not yours. You are just a sperm donor. Unless the bride price has been paid, the children belong legally and culturally to her parents. “If a widow has sexual relationship and she gets pregnant in the process, the children still remain those of the dead and have the same inheritance. The person who got her pregnant cannot come to claim them.” While agreeing that the children may not have the same characters especially if the woman gets pregnant for different men, Anibogwu said usually, characters of children are determined by the way they are brought up. “The children may not have the same character because of their DNA but don’t forget that most times, character is usually a product of upbringing and not necessarily DNA.”

NIGERIAN WOMAN IGBO BY TRIBE BEHEADED IN KANO OVER BLASPHARMY

BREAKING NEWS, HOW IGBO WOMAN WAS KILLED IN KANO

B-R-E-A-K-I-N-G News!!! How Igbo Woman Was Beheaded In Kano Over Religious Argument: Another Was Beheaded In Niger State. A group of Muslims youths in Kano yesterday evening beheaded an Igbo woman trader, Mrs Bridget from Imo state, over allegations that she blasphemed Prophet Muhammad. The Foodstuff seller at the Kofar Wambai market in Kano according to Hope For Nigeria was in the company of her husband before she was gruesomely murdered for an alleged religious argument with another trader in Wambai. Killing Of IPOB/MASSOB Members: Ohanaeze Demands Inquiry MASSOB Protest PosteJundemands, inquiry, killing, massob, members, ohanaeze. Emmanuel Nzomiwu Enugu – Pan-Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohaneze Ndigbo has reacted with shock to the killing of some members of Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) and Movement for Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) in Onitsha Anambra State, calling on the federal government to immediately set up a panel of inquiry to give the world the true picture of what transpired. In a statement on Wednesday, Dr. Joe Nwaorgu, the Secretary General of Ohanaeze, said they were traumatized by the outrageous killing of the members of IPOB and MASSOB in cold blood in the early hours of Monday, May 30 2016 and in the afternoon of the same day. Nwaorgu enjoined all Nigerians and indeed all lovers of humanity to condemn in its entirety this heinous display of brutality, which amounted to everything but gallantry. He said they were unimpressed and unconvinced by the talk of provocation, wondering the level of provocation that could warrant the firing of teargas without first calling on a crowd, whether legal or illegal, to disperse, even as the teargas was followed with a salvo of bullets. “The two organizations are sworn believers in non-violence. They say, and we believe them, that they were totally unarmed at the times of the onslaughts. “The Igbo nation is outraged and condemns these killings in strongest terms. Such should never happen whether under military dictatorship or democracy. Ndigbo are known democrats from time immemorial. We believe in competition. We are not violent people” Nwaorgu said. The Ohanaeze scribe called on the Anambra State Government to immediately set up an investigative panel to get the full record of what occurred. He said the federal government should set up its own inquiry to give the world the true picture. Nwaorgu said Ndigbo were unhappy with the continued bloodletting visited on them and wants such nefarious events to cease forthwith. We condole with the families of those killed and sympathize with the injured. May such events never occur again in our land” Nwaorgu said.
