Killing Of IPOB/MASSOB Members: Ohanaeze Demands Inquiry MASSOB Protest PosteJundemands, inquiry, killing, massob, members, ohanaeze. Emmanuel Nzomiwu Enugu – Pan-Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohaneze Ndigbo has reacted with shock to the killing of some members of Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) and Movement for Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) in Onitsha Anambra State, calling on the federal government to immediately set up a panel of inquiry to give the world the true picture of what transpired. In a statement on Wednesday, Dr. Joe Nwaorgu, the Secretary General of Ohanaeze, said they were traumatized by the outrageous killing of the members of IPOB and MASSOB in cold blood in the early hours of Monday, May 30 2016 and in the afternoon of the same day. Nwaorgu enjoined all Nigerians and indeed all lovers of humanity to condemn in its entirety this heinous display of brutality, which amounted to everything but gallantry. He said they were unimpressed and unconvinced by the talk of provocation, wondering the level of provocation that could warrant the firing of teargas without first calling on a crowd, whether legal or illegal, to disperse, even as the teargas was followed with a salvo of bullets. “The two organizations are sworn believers in non-violence. They say, and we believe them, that they were totally unarmed at the times of the onslaughts. “The Igbo nation is outraged and condemns these killings in strongest terms. Such should never happen whether under military dictatorship or democracy. Ndigbo are known democrats from time immemorial. We believe in competition. We are not violent people” Nwaorgu said. The Ohanaeze scribe called on the Anambra State Government to immediately set up an investigative panel to get the full record of what occurred. He said the federal government should set up its own inquiry to give the world the true picture. Nwaorgu said Ndigbo were unhappy with the continued bloodletting visited on them and wants such nefarious events to cease forthwith. We condole with the families of those killed and sympathize with the injured. May such events never occur again in our land” Nwaorgu said.
