Home remedy for constipation
16 Home Remedies to Relieve Constipation
constipation“Potty problems” are something we avoid in our everyday conversations. While you may be more than willing tog share how much your sore throat is torturing you, rarely do you go into the office and announce that you haven’t pooped in five days. However, constipation is not something to be embarrassed about, and if you’ve had it (and we all have) than you understand that it is no laughing matter-in fact it can be downright debilitating. Before running to the drugstore for a quick-fix laxative (which often worsen the problem) try some simple home remedies to relieve your discomfort, and keep it from coming back.
16 Remedies for Constipation- to get things moving.
1. Oil…it gets more than cars running
Pure olive oil is more than just a healthy and tasty fat, it can also help relieve constipation. It’s not surprising really when you consider what olive oil’s texture and consistency is like- it’s practically the poster child for constipation home remedies. It stimulates your digestive system, which helps get things moving through your colon, and taken regularly it can prevent constipation as well.
You will need…
-1 tablespoon of olive oil
-1 teaspoon of lemon juice (optional)
Directions
In the morning consume one tablespoon of olive oil. It works best on an empty stomach, so have it before you eat anything else. If you forget, wait until later when you haven’t eaten for a while. You can mix it with a little bit of lemon juice if you like to lighten the flavor (lemon juice also acts as a natural aid for constipation.)

2. Freshen up from the inside out
Ah the scent of a fresh lemon…did you ever think your stomach might appreciate it as much as your nose? The citric acid in lemon juice acts as a stimulant for your digestive system, and can also help flush out toxins and undigested material that may have built up along the walls of the colon. Mixing the juice with water not only lessens the intensity of the lemon flavor, but helps get you the fluids you need to get everything moving normally again.
You will need…
-1 fresh lemon
-1 cup of warm water
Directions
Squeeze the juice of 1 lemon into 1 cup of warm water. Drink or sip until finished completely.

3. Molasses makes the world go ‘round
Blackstrap molasses has been a sweet savior for more than a few sufferers of constipation, be it chronic or occasional. The reason blackstrap molasses works so well is because of how it is made. Regular molasses is essentially pure cane sugar juice boiled to concentrate and crystallize the sugar. The third boiling results in blackstrap molasses, which is crystallized but contains significant amounts of vitamins and minerals, specifically magnesium, which is what helps the constipation. It’s natural, tasty, and while you thank goodness someone decided to repeatedly boil a bunch of sugar, your body will thank you for the natural remedy.
You will need…
-1 teaspoon of blackstrap molasses
-warm water or tea (optional)
Directions
Consume one teaspoon of blackstrap molasses. Start slow and small here-if you don’t like the flavor of molasses, you can add it to a cup of warm water or tea to dilute the taste. If you find that a teaspoon has not been effective, you can go as high as 1-2 tablespoons, but try less at first.
4. Coffee is our friend (sometimes)
A lot of people love their morning coffee, but it does more than just give off heavenly aromas and help you perk up. Caffeine is a natural stimulant for the digestive system, so indulging in a cup of joe will help get you up and running in more ways than one. 1-2 cups is fine, but make sure you don’t overdo it-too much can actually have the opposite effect. Coffee is a diuretic and makes you urinate more frequently, and if you drink it an excess, it can cause constipation by dehydrating your body and drawing out water that would normally soften your stool.
5. Get moving
If you want stuff to move through your body, you need to move too! Our lifestyle these days not only involves dietary changes that increase constipation, but we’re often sitting much more than we’re active. While there isn’t an exact scientific reason as to why lack of exercise is linked with getting clogged up, we can assume that moving the body helps get the smooth muscle in the colon moving as well. Keep in mind, however, that you should wait an hour after big meals before exercising. There are also specific stretches and workouts that are supposed to help with getting good old number 2 out the door.
6. Go natural (aka fiber, fiber, and more fiber)
You’ll hear people talk a lot about how a natural diet helps relieve and prevent constipation. An overall healthy diet just improves everything, and our bodies know how to process fruits, veggies, grains and roughage more than the refined or artificial foods that don’t pass as easily. To get more specific, natural foods tend to contain boatloads of fiber-that magical word that signifies the end of toilet suffrage. In short, fiber is material that cannot be digested, and it acts like a sponge. It draws water from its surroundings, making it swell, which softens stool and adds bulk to it, which in turn helps it pass. Like coffee, some kinds of fiber (like beans) can contribute to constipation, so always drink plenty of water. Some good fiber-filled foods include-
-Beans
-Apricots
-Whole grain bread
-Berries
-Broccoli
-Plums, pears, and apples
-nuts
-Potatoes (skip the fries though)
black beans
7. Get some FLAXitive
Flaxseed oil is a pretty simple home remedy for constipation. It sort of coats the walls of the intestine, as well as stool, and increases the number of bowel movements you are having. Enjoying your oil with orange juice is a double whammy when it comes to constipation, since oranges have a good amount of fiber in them (make sure to get orange juice with pulp, which is what has most of the fiber.)
You will need…
-1 glass of orange juice with pulp (8 oz.)
-1 tablespoon of flaxseed oil
Directions
Mix 1 tablespoon of flaxseed oil with 1 glass of orange juice. Drink as needed, but give it time (up to 5 hourse) to start working so you don’t overdo it.
8. Aloe-it’s benefits aren’t just skin deep
Aloe is known to soothe minor cuts and burns, but it can also soothe your tummy. It’s best to use pure aloe vera gel from the plant. The gel straight from the plant is more concentrated than commercial aloe juice so don’t use more than 2 tablespoons. If you don’t have an aloe plant, than drinking aloe juice can accomplish similar results.
You will need…
-2 tablespoons of pure aloe gel or 1 cup of aloe vera juice
Directions
Mix two tablespoons of pure gel with fruit juice and drink in the morning, OR drink one cup of aloe vera juice as needed.
9. Establish a routine
Potty schedules aren’t just for puppies, they’re a great way to relieve and prevent constipation in humans too. Regulating the timing of when you go to the bathroom will regulate your bowel movements as well. Set aside about 15 minutes anywhere from 1-3 times a day, and take your time, even if nothing happens. Make sure you stay relaxed, and eventually your body will catch on.
10. Baking soda does it all
Baking soda lies at the heart of home remedies. It’s is so incredibly versatile, and it pretty much does its job 95% of the time. It works incredibly well for constipation (and tummy aches in general) because it is a bicarbonate, which will encourage air to come out of you one way or another, and relieve pain from pressure. It also re-alkalizes the stomach, neutralizing the acid a little bit and helping things pass through your gut.
You will need…
-1 teaspoon baking soda
-1/4 cup warm water
Mix a teaspoon of baking soda with ¼ cup of warm water. Drink all of the mixture-the quicker you finish it, the better it seems to work.

11. Empty out with Epsom salt
Epsom salt is an effective home remedy for constipation for two main reasons. First, the salt draws water from its surroundings, softening up stool and making it easier to pass. Second, the magnesium that is present in the salt promotes contraction of the bowel muscles, which also makes passing easier. Table salt can be useful in terms of drawing water out, but it lacks the magnesium that Epsom has, so try and use Epsom salt if possible.
You will need…
-2 teaspoons of Epsom salt (for adults) OR ½ teaspoon (for children)*
-1 cup of water or fruit juice
Directions
Dissolve 2 teaspoons of Epsom salt in one cup of water or fruit juice and drink all of it. If within 4 more hours there is no sign of bowel movement, you may take one more dose. Only use ½ teaspoon for children.
*Consult the box for dosing

12. Don’t forget the prunes…
Perhaps one of the most classic cures for constipation is prunes or prune juice. The fruit works as a natural laxative because it has high amounts of fiber, and contains sorbitol. Sorbitol softens stools because it is a natural carbohydrate that is not easily ingested, causing it to draw a lot of water as it passes through the intestines and adding bulk to stool. Be careful though-too much and sorbitol can cause gas and make stool too soft.
You will need…
-2 glasses of prune juice (8oz)
Directions
Drink one glass of prune juice in the morning and one at night to relieve constipation. It should start working within a few hours, so it’s important to let one glass pass through your intestines before attempting to drink another-or else you risk diarrhea. You can also eat several prunes instead of drinking the juice if you prefer.

13. Heed natures call
This is a preventative measure to help ward off those uncomfortable bouts of constipation in the future, and it’s pretty straightforward. When you need to go to the bathroom-go! Your body is giving you the signal for a reason, and it’s a good idea to listen. The longer you hold it in, the more water is absorbed from the stool, and the harder it becomes. You’re body also only sends the signal to have a bowel movement for a certain amount of time, after a certain amount of time. That’s why if you have to go really badly and don’t, you stop feeling like you have to go. Delay the duty and you may not get the heads up to go until you’re even more clogged.
14. Dandy Dandelions
Dandelions are a terribly annoying weed, but you might view them differently after they help relieve your constipation. The constituents of dandelions make it a gentle laxative as well as an effective detoxifier, and a cup of dandelion tea will be enormously beneficial to those who are suffering from constipation due to inactiveness or the consumption of a lot of processed foods (although drinking it does not mean you don’t need to exercise or eat healthy!)
You will need…
-1-2 teaspoons of dried dandelion leaves
-1 cup of hot water
Directions
Put 1-2 teaspoons of dried dandelion leaves into a mug, and pour hot water over them. Cover and let steep for 6-10 minutes. Drink up to 3 times a day.
15. Bacteria is necessary
Healthy gut flora is vital to keep our digestive system working properly, especially in these times, when our stomach is getting pounded with all sorts of processed sugars and foods. Working to keep the good bacteria in our bodies strong and plentiful will help prevent constipation, and lessen its severity should it still occur. There are a number of ways to go about helping your bacteria flourish, but one simple method is to enjoy a cup of yogurt, which is filled with probiotics, with breakfast and during the day.
You will need…
-1-3 cups of plain yogurt
Directions
Eat a cup of yogurt with breakfast, and then on its own or with snacks throughout the day.
greek yogurt
16. Rock the squat
It sounds a tad awkward, but literally squatting over the toilet can help relieve constipation and kick start your colon. It’s a natural position that our bodies understand means “it’s time to go!”
American’s spend a little less than $1 billion dollars a year on laxatives that will ultimately only contribute to the problem, and wreak havoc on the body. Know that you do not have to have a bowel movement every single day to be regular-that is a myth that contributes to the dependency on laxatives. Some people only poop every few days and that’s normal for them, while others go multiple times a day. We’re all different, and there are too many factors to decide how often every single person should be going-just know your body and use common sense.
Constipation may be something that people like to keep to themselves, but whether you don’t tell a soul, or announce it on graduation day via the loudspeaker, it all comes down to the fact that it can seriously impede day to day life. It is also, thankfully, something that can often be effectively treated naturally and at home. As a bonus, many of the lifestyle changes that help constipation (diet, exercise, etc.) simply make you an overall happier, healthier human being.

In this season, you should take security very serious
SECURITY MSG.
The festive season is usually characterized by increased criminal activities. Please be guided by the following tips:
1. Personal Security
* Keep a low profile, blend in and be alert to developments in your environment.
* Avoid known crime-prone areas and black spots.
* Avoid routine pattern of movements and late night outings. The more predictable your movements and schedules are, to and from places of leisure, entertainment, worship, shopping, schooling, the easier it is for a kidnapper to plan and execute your abduction.
* Avoid undue exposure, inclusive of your family members.
* Save emergency numbers on your phone with speed dial for easy call in an emergency.
* Regularly review your personal security, the security around your home, and your spouse’s business premises.
2. Financial Transactions
* Keep all information concerning financial transactions strictly confidential – do not discuss in the open.
* Avoid carrying large sums of cash, do not carry bags or packages that may attract criminals.
* Avoid physical transactions that require large sums of cash – use cheques and electronic money transfers.
* Use ATMs only in safe and well lit places and not late at night.
3. Travel Security
* Always pre-plan your journey and ensure the vehicle is in good working condition.
* Discuss travel plans only with immediate family members.
* Avoid night driving, make less use of high value cars that can easily mark you out as a potential target of criminals.
* Stick to major routes and avoid lonely routes with bad roads and poor visibility.
* If you suspect a vehicle trailing you on the road, drive to the nearest Police station or public place where help is near.
* Do not give ride to strangers, including persons dressed in uniforms, as they may be criminals in disguise.
* Do not hitch-hike vehicles driven by strangers.
* Be aware of techniques used by criminals to force unsuspecting victims to stop.
* Watch out for strange persons inside a car or hanging around your gate at your residence.
* Do not sit inside a parked car on a less busy road.
* Do not park your car in unlit areas.
Note: It is established that motorists are most vulnerable when:
* Waiting for the gate to be opened for them at residences.
* Driving through a terribly bad spot that requires slowing down completely with little chance of escape or when parked on a spot along a less busy road without alighting from the car.
4. Social Outings
* Always let close family members know of your movements.
* Avoid late outings unless it is absolutely necessary, even then, ensure you are accompanied.
* Always take your mobile phone with you, in the vent you need it to make emergency calls
* Be aware of the risk posed by large gatherings, as they might constitute attractive targets for violent criminals and terrorists.
* Counsel your children never to leave home without telling you, and to maintain communication with a parent or guardian.
Note: In the likely event that you are attacked, please remember the following:
* The general rule is “NEVER” attempt to run.
* Do not resist or panic, just stay calm and cooperate
* Avoid eye-to-eye contact with the assailants, but respond to instructions and questions calmly.
* Do not make sudden movements without first seeking permission – e.g. unfastening your seat belt as they may misconstrue your intention.
* Implore them not to use their weapon as you would cooperate fully
If kidnapped:
* Focus your energy on survival, maintaining self respect and dignity.
* Inform them if you have any medical condition
* Request to speak with your relatives, close associates, and give them the facts unemotionally
* Do not attempt to call the Police when it is not safe to do so
Finally, please review the security tips and share with members of your household and practice security stand downs with them.

10 benefits of drinking warm Lemon Water
Step To Health10 Benefits of Drinking Warm Lemon Water Every Morning
Lemons have many health benefits that have been known for centuries. The two main ones are its powerful antibacterial and antiviral power and its immune system stimulation abilities. Lemon juice is also known for its use as an aid in weight loss because it is a digestive and it also cleanses the liver.
Lemons contain many substances, especially citric acid, calcium, magnesium, vitamin C, biolflavonoids, pectin, and limonene, which boost immunity and fight infection. Here are the 10 benefits of drinking warm lemon water every morning.
How Do I Prepare Warm Lemon Water?
You should use purified water and it should be warm but not boiling. Don’t use cold water since your body takes awhile to process it and it will need more energy to process cold water than warm. Always use fresh lemons, or organic ones if possible, and never bottled lemon juice. Squeeze 1/2 of a lemon in a glass and drink it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.
Benefits of Warm Water
1. Helps You Digest
Lemon juice helps eliminate unwanted materials and toxins from the body. Due to its atomic composition that is similar to saliva and the chloric acid of digestive juices, it helps the liver produce bile, an acid that is required for digestion. Lemons are also rich in minerals and vitamins and help loosen toxins in the digestive tract. The digestive qualities of lemon juice help relieve symptoms of indigestion, like acid reflux, burping, and abdominal bloating. The American Cancer Society recommends hot lemon water to patients with cancer to help stimulate intestinal movements.
2. Cleanses Your System As a Diuretic
Lemon juice helps eliminate unwanted materials because lemons increase the rate of urination in the body. Therefore, when you drink lemon water, toxins are released at a faster rate, which helps you keep your urinary tract healthy. The citric acid in lemons helps maximize the function of the enzyme, which stimulates the liver and aids in detoxification.
3. Stimulates Your Immune System
safe_image.php
Thanks to its amount of vitamin C, lemons are a huge ally in strengthening your immune system.
Lemons are rich in vitamin C, which is ideal for fighting colds. They are rich in potassium, which stimulates the brain and nervous system. Potassium also helps control blood pressure. The ascorbic acid (vitamin C) that is found in lemons has anti-inflammatory effects and is used as additional help for asthma and other respiratory symptoms. It also improves the absorption of iron in the body. Iron plays an important role in the immune system. Lemons also contain saponins, which show anti-microbrial properties that help keep colds and flus away. Lemons also help reduce the amount of phlegm the body produces.
4. Balances pH Levels
Lemons are one of the most alkaline foods for your body. They are obviously acidic on their own, but inside our bodies they are alkaline (citric acid doesn’t create acidity in the body once it is metabolized). Lemons have as much citric acid as ascorbic acid, which is weak acid that is easily metabolized in the body thus allowing the mineral content of lemons to help alkalize the blood. You only get sick when the body’s pH is acidic. Drinking lemon water regularly can help eliminate acidity in the body, including uric acid in your joints, which is one of the main causes of pain and swelling.
5. Cleanses Skin
homemade-treatment-for-your-skin
Apart from cleaning your face, lemon juice is great for washing your hands and for greasy skin.
The vitamin C component, as well as other antioxidants, helps reduce wrinkles and dark spots and fight free radicals. Vitamin C is vital for healthy and radiant skin since its alkaline nature kills certain types of bacterial known to cause acne. In fact, it can be applied directly to age scars or marks to help reduce their appearance. Since lemon water cleanses toxins from the blood, you can help keep your skin clear from defects on the inside as well as on the outside. The vitamin C in lemons rejuvenates your skin from inside your body.
6. It Gives You Energy and Improves Your Mood
The energy that human beings receive from food comes from the atoms and molecules of those foods. When positively-charged ions of food enter the digestive tract and interact with negatively-charged ions, a reaction is produced. Lemons are one of the few foods that contain more negatively-charged ions, which provides your body with more energy when they enter the digestive tract. The smell of lemon also has energizing properties and improves your mood. The smell of lemon juice can improve your mood and help clear your mind. Lemons can also help reduce anxiety and depression.
7. Boosts Healing
The ascorbic acid (vitamin C) that is found in lemons boosts healing and is an essential nutrient in maintaining bone, connective tissue, and cartilage health. As we mentioned before, vitamin C also has anti-inflammatory properties. As a whole, vitamin C is an essential nutrient in maintaining good health and recovery from stress and injuries.
8. Freshens Breath

Lemon, mint, or yogurt: great allies for getting rid of bad breath.
Apart from fresher breath, lemons help relieve toothaches and gingivitis. Keep in mind that citric acid can erode tooth enamel, which is why it is best to brush your teeth before drinking lemon water or wait awhile to brush your teeth after you drink it. Also, you can gargle purified water after you finish drinking the lemon water.
9. Hydrates Your Lymphatic System
Warm lemon water helps your immune system through hydration and replacing lost fluids in your body. When your body is deprived of water, you can feel the secondhand effects which include: feeling tired or slow, a drop in immune functions, constipation, lack of energy, low/high blood pressure, lack of sleep, lack of mental clarity, etc.
10. Helps You Lose Weight

Lemon’s properties for slimming down are very well-known and valued. It is an excellent detoxifier and inflammation reducer. It has tons of vitamin C with antioxidant properties.
Lemons are rich in pectin fiber, which helps fight cravings. Studies have shown that people that have a more alkaline diet tend to lose weight faster.

DOING THE RIGHT THINGS
George Bernard Shaw said, 'People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don't believe in circumstances. The people who get ahead are those who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and if they can't find them, they make them:.'
A farmer can plant anything he wants; the land doesn't care one way or the other. Suppose he plants both wheat and poisonous hemlock. The land will return poisonous hemlock as plentifully as it does wheat.
Your mind is far more fertile, but the same principle applies. It doesn't care what kind of seeds you plant; success or failure, good or evil, anxiety or peace - what you sow returns to you. 'If you follow your selfish desires, you will harvest destruction...if you follow God's ways, you will harvest eternal life.'Success lies in your daily routine.
So, get to know God . Make up your mind to be of service to somebody every day. Encourage everyone you meet. Take the first step toward overcoming a bad habit.
Do something for somebody who can't repay you. Instead of spending your working week looking forward to Friday, each day look forward to today!
Do three things that will take you outside your comfort zone.
Be thankful for what you have. Ask for help when you need it. Give God the best part of your day.
The time to be happy is now, and the place to be happy is here.
Have a fruitful week doing the right things. Good luck and God's grace on this journey we call "Life"

Home remedy for low blood pressure.
Home Remedies for Low Blood Pressure
Low blood pressure, also known as hypotension, is a condition in which a person’s blood pressure becomes so low that it causes symptoms like dizziness, fainting, fatigue, nausea, difficulty breathing, blurred vision, palpitations, and cold, clammy skin.
People with an ideal weight and who are physically fit and active generally have a blood pressure reading lower than what is considered normal at 120/80 mm Hg. Yet, this is not unhealthy, especially when the symptoms are not experienced.
However, when readings consistently remain around 90/60 mm Hg or lower, it is considered hypotension. Besides, when the blood pressure is extremely low, it may cause inadequate flow of blood to organs such as the brain, kidneys, and heart.
The condition can be caused by issues like dehydration, prolonged bed rest, nutritional deficiencies, a decrease in blood volume, heart problems, pregnancy, endocrine disorders, and neurological conditions.
Certain medications such as alpha blockers, beta blockers, diuretics, antidepressants, and others can also lead to low blood pressure.
When dealing with low blood pressure, it is usually suggested to increase your salt and fluid intake. Before increasing your salt consumption, do check with your doctor. Also, cut down on alcoholic beverages and high-carbohydrate foods such as bread, rice, pasta, and potatoes.
The proper treatment for this condition depends on the exact cause, but you can try some simple home remedies to alleviate symptoms.
Here are the top 10 home remedies for low blood pressure.1. Salt Water
Salt water helps treat low blood pressure because the sodium in salt increases blood pressure. Do not overdo this remedy though, as excess salt can prove to be unhealthy. Simply mix one-half teaspoon of salt in a glass of water and drink it. You can also drink sports beverages.
2. Coffee
Having a cup of strong coffee, hot chocolate, cola, or any caffeinated beverage can also temporarily increase your blood pressure. If you frequently suffer from low blood pressure, drink a cup of coffee in the morning or have it along with meals, especially when dealing with orthostatic hypotension. But, do not make it a habit because the long-term effects of caffeine are not clear.
3. Raisins
Raisins are a traditional Ayurvedic remedy that is considered excellent for treating hypotension naturally.
Soak 30 to 40 raisins in a cup of water overnight.
Eat them in the morning, one at a time, on an empty stomach. You can also drink the water in which the raisins were soaked.
Follow this remedy for a few weeks or even a month.
You can take about four to five almonds, 10 to 15 black currants, and 15 to 20 peanuts along with a glass of milk.
4. Holy Basil
Holy basil is beneficial for low blood pressure because it is rich in vitamin C, magnesium, potassium, and pantothenic acid. Furthermore, it helps balance the mind and reduces stress.
Extract the juice of 10 to 15 basil leaves.
Add one teaspoon of honey to it.
Drink this juice daily on an empty stomach.
You can also chew four to five basil leaves daily in the morning.
5. Licorice Root
Licorice root is another popular home remedy for normalizing low blood pressure caused by low levels of cortisol. It blocks the enzyme that breaks down cortisol and supports healthy adrenalin function. It is also effective in curing chronic fatigue syndrome.
You can prepare licorice tea by steeping one teaspoon of this herb (dried or powdered) in a cup of boiling water for about five minutes. You can take it daily for a few days.
Alternatively, you can take about 400-500 mg of licorice root capsules for a few days.
6. Beetroot Juice
Raw beetroot juice is helpful in dealing with high as well as low blood pressure. For hypotension, drink a cup of beetroot juice twice daily for about one week. Other natural fruit juices are also considered helpful in this regard.
We should be careful on who handles our health issues.
. YANKED OUT
From "Ovarian Cyst" To Premature Menopause.
-
I was in clinic sometime in July, and this woman walked in with great difficulty from a chronic pelvic pain. But that wasn't her major problem though.
She had not been experiencing her periods for close to a year, and as a result, had not been able to conceive. She was just 28 years old, 5 years into her marriage, and had only a kid.
It was definitely a case of secondary infertility. That was the simple part. The burning question was why was she not able to conceive; why wasn't she seeing her periods?
As I was exploring the ovarian causes of infertility, a wild thought strayed into my head, and I decided to pursue the possibility of Premature ovarian failure. To my chagrin, everything was checking out: hot flushes, insomnia, anxiety, palpitations, vaginal dryness-- all pointing towards MENOPAUSE, especially in the absence of a thyroid swelling. But she was just 28 for Pete's sake, and about 12 to 17 years away from menopause!
Then she mentioned that the symptoms had started shortly after an abdominal surgery done by a Theatre Attendant [people who undergo a three year training to be able to assist in the theatre, set up the theatre for surgery, sterilize instruments after surgeries, and to be able to suture and dress minor wounds], and my heart sank. When she said that the indication for the surgery was an ultrasound diagnosis of "ovarian cysts," my heart sank further.
Holding my breath, I asked if they have a picture of the "cysts" removed during the surgery. The husband swiped through his phone, and showed me the "cysts." But they were no cysts; my eyes popped as I recognized her ovaries-- two of them, lying neatly inside a kidney dish.
When I saw the ultrasound report that led them to do the surgery, it was heartbreaking to realize that it was a functional cyst, a simple one measuring barely up to a centimeter in diameter. Ergo, it didn't need ANY TREATMENT, let alone surgery. And she lost her two ovaries because of it!
She's just 28, and with only a kid, she's yet to complete her family, but she can no longer do that as she had been rendered sterile by a quack!
And oh, the chronic pelvic pain that was making it difficult for her to walk was due to dense adhesions in the pelvis, a complication of the same surgery!
.
.
🔕 OUTCRY
With the proliferation of Community Health Extension Workers [ CHEW], Birth Attendants [BA], Clinic Attendants [CA], Theatre Attendants [TA], and alternative healthcare providers like Traditional Bone Setters [TBS], quackery is on the increase.
Just the other day, a child born with club foot developed gangrene after being mismanaged by a TBS, and had to have both legs amputated. That's just one, out of too many, that got to make it to the public.
The fact is that there are a lot more of such occurrences happening in clinics manned by CHEWs and CAs, maternities manned by ill trained BAs, and "human abattoirs" [I wouldn't call those theatres] manned by TAs; and if left unchecked, if these people are left unsupervised, it will only get worse.
Mind you, these programs are actually commendable government initiatives, recognized by the World Health Organization, meant to bridge the enormous gap between the conventional healthcare professionals and people in need of health care delivery in rural communities.
There charge is mainly to run primary health care in places where doctors, nurses and other conventional health care professionals are not readily available. They are meant to be engaged largely in preventive medicine, creating public health awareness, immunization, treating common ailments like uncomplicated malaria and upper respiratory tract infections [and in the case of TAs, suturing and dressing minor wounds] ; and recognizing serious cases early enough to refer for prompt and timely intervention.
In Nigeria, however, every good initiative somehow finds a way to be dragged to the mud, especially WHEN PEOPLE START DOING MORE THAN THEY WERE TRAINED FOR. The problem with Nigeria has always been people refusing to stay in their lanes. It happens not just in our roads, but also across professional divides!
Here in Benue state, these programs have been so bastardized that every CHEW, BA, CA, and TA have their own clinics, where as you may expect, they handle not just the primary health care cases they were trained for, but complicated cases, even ones that no doctor, but a specialist in the respective field, would dare near!
The funny thing is that the unsuspecting, uneducated masses don't know the difference; as far as they are concerned, we are all "Ortwers" [Doctors]. And the result? An alarming increase in death rate, as even the ones they eventually refer, they do so only at the point of death.
.
.
This article is a clarion call for all stakeholders concerned to get off their lazy asses and do something pretty fast, as this is a public health emergency!
And why we are waiting for them to do something, you-- yes you that is reading this -- you can do your own bit by helping to spread this message, to get people better educated, better aware of their environment, better informed as IGNORANCE remains a component of the vicious triad that is the health Waterloo of the average African man.
IPOB faults Amnesty International, by saying they lost 2000 members to security and not 150
We lost over 2,000 members to security crackdown, not 150 — IPOB •Faults Amnesty International report
By News Express on 27/11/2016
The indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) worldwide and the directorate of State (DOS) have received the report of Amnesty international concerning the incessant killing of Biafrans.
But the group countered that 150 people said to have been killed by the Amnesty International was not the accurate number of IPOB and Biafrans killed from August 2015 till date.
In a press release made available to newsmen in Umuahia, signed by Emmanuel Powerful, media and publicity secretary of the group hinted that IPOBs records and statistics department gathered that from all parts of Biafraland over 2,000 members killed and 750 missing since whose dead bodies have not been seen, “And we are still searching for them. We also have 567 members undergoing medical treatment at different hospitals.”
The statement by IPOB further said, “We have 370 people undergoing severe torture in different prisons and security cells across the country from hands of security agents.
As we are talking right now the DSS and other security agencies in Nigeria are still searching for members of IPOB across the country. Some are in the DSS secret cells since six months now without taking them to court while they were all keeping incommunicado in different places.”
The group however commended the reports from Amnesty international that stood bold to condemn the crime against humanity committed by the government of Nigeria and her security agencies in the face of the world.
“We also oblige the Amnesty International and other relevant human rights organizations like Human Right Watch to make more enquiries and investigations into these barbaric killings against the members of the indigenous people of Biafra,” the statement added.

Disk removal (surgery)
Disk removal
Definition
Disk removal is one of the most common types of back surgery. Diskectomy (also called discectomy) is the removal of an intervertebral disk, the flexible plate that connects any two adjacent vertebrae in the spine. Intervertebral disks act as shock absorbers, protecting the brain and spinal cord from the impact produced by the body's movements.
Purpose
Removing the invertebral disk is performed after completion of unsuccessful conservative treatment for back pain that has been present for at least six weeks. Surgery is also performed if there is pressure on the lumbosacral nerve roots that causes weakness, bowel dysfunction, or bladder dysfunction.
As a person ages, the disks between vertebrae degenerate and dry out, and tears form in the fibers holding them in place. Eventually, the disk can develop a blister-like bulge, compressing nerves in the spine and causing pain. This is called a "prolapsed" (or herniated) disk. If such a disk presses on a nerve root and causes muscle weakness, or problems with the bladder or bowel, immediate disk removal surgery may be needed.
The goal of the surgery is to relieve all pressure on nerve roots by removing the pulpy material from the disk, or the entire disk. If it is necessary to remove material from several nearby vertebrae, the spine may become unsteady. In this case, the surgeon will perform a spinal fusion , removing all disks between two or more vertebrae, and roughening the bones so that the vertebrae heal together. Bone strips taken from the patient's leg or hip may be used to help hold the vertebrae together. Spinal fusion decreases pain, but decreases spinal mobility.
Demographics
Approximately 150,000 Americans undergo disk removal each year in the United States.
Description
The surgery is performed under general anesthesia. The surgeon cuts an opening into the vertebral canal, and moves the dura and the bundle of nerves called the "cauda equina" (horse's tail) aside, which exposes the disk. If a portion of the disk has moved out from between the vertebrae and into the nerve canal, it is simply
In the anterior cervical disk removal, an incision is made into the patient's neck (B). The cervical disk, which may be herniated, is visualized (C). It is removed completely (D and E). (Illustration by GGS Inc.)

removed. If the disk itself has become fragmented and partially displaced, or is not fragmented but bulges extensively, the surgeon removes the damaged part of the disk and the part that lies in the space between the vertebrae.
There are minimally invasive surgical techniques for disk removal, including microdiskectomy. In this procedure, the surgeon uses a magnifying instrument or special microscope to view the disk. Magnification makes it possible to remove a herniated disk with a smaller incision, causing less damage to nearby tissue. Video-assisted arthroscopic microdiskectomy has exhibited good results with less use of narcotics and a shortened period of disability. Newer forms of diskectomy are still in the research stage, and are not yet widely available. These include laser diskectomy and automated percutaneous diskectomy.
Total disk replacement research in the United States is underway. Products under investigation include the ProDisc (made by Spine Solutions, Inc.), and the SB Charite III (made by Link Spine Group, Inc.). In these clinical studies, a significant number of patients who received artificial disk implants report a reduction in back and leg pain; 92.7% state they are satisfied or extremely satisfied with the procedure.
Diagnosis/Preparation
The physician will obtain x rays and neuroimaging studies, including a computed tomography (CT) scan, myelogram, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI); and clinical exams to determine the precise location of the affected disk.
An hour before surgery, the patient is given an injection to dry up internal fluids and encourage drowsiness.
Aftercare
After the operation, the patient is lying flat and face down when he or she awakens. This position must be maintained for several days, except for occasional positional changes to avoid bedsores . There may be slight pain or stiffness in the back area.
Patients usually leave the hospital on the fourth or fifth day after surgery. They must:
Avoid sitting for more than 15–20 minutes.
Use a reclined chair.
Avoid bending at the waist, twisting, or lifting heavy objects.
Begin gentle walking (indoors or outdoors), and gradually increase exercise . Exercise should be continued for the next four weeks.
Begin stationary biking or gentle swimming after two weeks.
Sleep on a firm mattress.
Slow down if they experience more than minor pain in the back or leg.
Refrain from sitting in one place for an extended period of time (e.g., long car ride).
Patients should be able to resume normal activities in four to six weeks.
Risks
All surgery carries some risk due to heart and lung problems or the anesthesia itself, but this risk is generally very small. (The risk of death from general anesthesia for all types of surgery, for example, is only approximately one in 1,600 surgeries.)
The most common risk of the surgery is infection, which occurs in 1–2% of cases. Rarely, the surgery damages nerves in the lower back or major blood vessels in front of the disk. Occasionally, there may be some residual paralysis of a leg or bladder muscle after surgery, but this is the result of the disk problem that necessitated the surgery, not the operation itself.
Normal results
In properly evaluated patients, there is a very good chance that disk removal will be successful in easing pain. The surgery can relieve pain in 90% of cases; however, there are some people who do not achieve pain relief. This depends on a number of factors, including the length of time that they had the condition requiring surgery. Disk surgery has a "good to excellent" result in 87% of patients over age 60. The surgery can relieve both back and leg pain, especially the latter.
Alternatives
Prior to disk removal surgery, a patient usually undergoes treatment with medical or physical therapy. Disk removal surgery may be indicated if these treatments are ineffective, or if emergency symptoms (i.e., bladder and bowel dysfunction) develop.

Genius or Mentality, what do you always say with your mouth.
*GENIUS or MENTALLY ILL?*
A story is told about a young Thomas Edison who came home one day with a paper for his mother. He told her, *“My teacher told me to give this paper only to my mother.”*
Thomas’ mother read the note and her eyes filled with tears. Thomas asked his mother what the note said, and she read aloud,
*“Your son is a genius. This school is too small for him and doesn’t have enough good teachers for training him. Please teach him yourself.”*
And that’s exactly what Thomas’ mother did; she home-schooled her child with devotion and dedication.
As the story goes, many years later after Thomas Edison’s mother passed on, and he was now one of the world’s greatest inventors, he found a folded paper among other family items.
He opened the very same paper that had been handed to him to give to his mother and read the following message:
*“Your son is mentally ill. We won’t let him come to school anymore.”*
At that moment, Edison realized what his mother had done for him so many years ago. He wrote in his diary: *“Thomas Alva Edison was an addled child that, by a hero mother, became the genius of the century.”*
In the book of Proverbs we learn: *“The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.”*
Can you imagine what might have happened to Thomas Edison if his mother had read to him *the reckless and hurtful words* written by his foolish teacher? He might never have invented the light bulb or made his many other contributions to society.
Thank God for the wisdom and wise words of his mother! She created the context in which her son could grow to his full potential.
*Let’s take this message to heart and resolve to use our words for healing today. You might be a parent, what do you say to your children... You might be a teacher, what do you say to your student... especially the ones that are not really performing well presently...*
What do you say about your parents, family, boss, subordinate, leader, colleague, follower...
*Just as hurtful words can cause uncontrolled damage for life, so can wise words positively affect a person for life.*........Copied

when you are confused about a career to pursue, read this.
Clueless about what career path to pursue? Don’t be afraid to reach for the stars – literally. Look to your astrological sign for some fun inspiration!
Capricorn: The Goat (Dec 22 – Jan 21)
The wise old goat of the zodiac, Cap is a great fit for jobs that need someone pragmatic and with an ability to delineate tasks well. They’re also famously strict and stubborn – which aren’t always desirable traits in an employee, but can work as a major plus for leadership roles and competitive industries.
Best Jobs for Capricorn: Manager, Accountant, Banker, Software Developer, Doctor, Architect
Aquarius: The Water Bearer (Jan 22 – Feb 21)
It’s no coincidence that The Age of Aquarius is synonymous with counter culture – Aquarians are known for their curiosity and free-spiritedness. They’re like your friend that ate kale way before it was in vogue and makes their own deodorant; the trendsetters of the Zodiac. Their sense of adventure and style makes them the perfect candidate for jobs in the Fashion, Public Relations, or Non-Profit industries.
Best Jobs for Aquarius: Designer, Decorator, Magazine Editor, Writer, Musician, Script Developer
Pisces: The Fish (Feb 22 – Mar 21)
Pisces are highly intuitive, and generally have an emotional wisdom that makes them great at jobs that require patience and understanding. They’re also sensitive, which can work against them in fields that typically deal with more criticism such as customer service or hospitality.
Best Jobs for Pisces: Teacher, Nurse, Psychologist, Non-Profit work
Aries: The Ram (Mar 22 – Apr 21)
It makes a lot of sense that the sign identified as the ram would be assertive, strong-willed, and competitive – and while those traits may not sound very flattering, they do make Aries a great fit for work in roles that need a leader who won’t back down.
Best Jobs for Aries: Politician, Lawyer, Entrepreneur, Salesperson, Rescue Worker
Taurus: The Bull (Apr 22 – May 21)
Taurus are determined, dependable, and honest – but their deep desire for stability is juxtaposed with a love for all things beautiful and luxurious. A stable 9-5 that leaves room for creativity is perfect for the Bull of the zodiac.
Best Jobs for Taurus: Fashion, Design, Landscaping, Chef, PR
Gemini: The Twins (May 22 – Jun 21)
Gemini have many talents and are highly adaptable, but they must be challenged to thrive in the workplace. And be careful interrupting them in a meeting – a Gemini will forgive, but never forget.
Best Jobs for Gemini: Teacher, Performer, Customer Service, Executive Assistant, Lawyer, Politician, Fundraiser
Cancer: The Crab (Jun 22 – Jul 21)
Cancers, sometimes known as the ‘mother’ of the zodiac, are natural born nurturers and problem-solvers. They are responsible and protective, but can sometimes be perceived as having their ‘head in the clouds’ as a result of their creative, day-dreamy tendencies.
Best Jobs for Cancer: Musician, Actor, Artist, Teacher, Farmer, Social Worker
Leo: The Lion (Jul 22 – Aug 21)
You know your friend that, like, makes the party happen when they walk in? They’re probably a Leo. Fearless, powerful, inspiring – Leos are known as the lion of the zodiac of a reason. But just like your popular friend, Leos can be a little arrogant too – and don’t always work well within a team. They thrive in leadership roles, especially ones that bring them wide praise and acclaim.
Best Jobs for Leo: CEO, Real Estate Agent, Advertising Executive, Politician, Sales Representative
Virgo: The Virgin (Aug 22 – Sept 21)
Virgos are the most Type A sign in the zodiac. They’re meticulous, neat, and extreme perfectionists – making them perfect for jobs that need a keen eye and attention to detail.
Best Jobs for Virgo: Editor, Detective, Professor, Statistician, Engineer, Doctor
Libra: The Scales (Sept 22 – Oct 21)
Libras are unshakeably charming and sociable – they’re the kind of person you just want to be around. They thrive on the good energy, and making people happy. This, of course, makes them an excellent fit for any customer-facing role.
Best Jobs for Libra: Customer Service, Negotiator, Diplomat, Sales, Personal Trainer
Scorpio: The Scorpion (Oct 22 – Nov 21)
Scorpios are dangerously smart. They’re curious, cunning, and won’t rest until they’ve found an answer to what puzzles them. Their focus and discretion makes them perfect for any jobs that deal with folders marked ‘confidential,’ for example.
Best Jobs for Scorpio: Teacher, Surgeon, Lawyer, Politician, Scientist
Sagittarius: The Archer (Nov 22 – Dec 21)
Sagittarians are are fun-loving, outgoing, witty, and giving – they’re that friend that seems to diffuse even the most awkward of silences with ease. The only thing that can really get in a Sag’s way is a tedious routine – they need a fun challenge, and a role that allows their big personality to shine.
Best Jobs for Sagittarius: Teacher, Public Relations, Coach, Public Speaker, Artist, Tour Guide, Fitness Instructor
please stop wasting food, so many people have no food to eat, if you have alot, give it out to the needy.
This startling photograph is acknowledged as one of the most horrifying photographs shot ever since the camera was invented.
Notice the vulture waïting for the child to die.
This photo was shot in 1994 and won the Pulitzer Prize. The location is Sudan, outside a UN warehouse for storing food and grain received as humanitarian aid. Nobody knows what happened to the child. But Kevin Carter broke down mentally after taking this picture and ultimately committed suicide within 3 months of taking this picture. This is what Kevin Carter wrote in his diary which was recovered after his death:
"Dear God, I promise I will never waste my food no matter how bad it can taste and how full I may be. I pray that He will protect this little boy, guide and deliver him away from his misery. I pray that we will be more sensitive towards the world around us and not be blinded by our own selfish nature and interests. I hope this picture will always serve as a reminder to us that how fortunate we are and that we must never ever take things for granted."
Each one of us waste food just because we can afford to waste food. Despite all the technological advances made by man, it has not been possible to eliminate hunger. Hunger is not only caused by famine or failure of crops. It is also caused by war both internecine and external agressíon.
Can we, after seeing this photograph take a pledge not to waste food ?
Can we educate our children not to waste food ?
Can we share this picture with our friends and acquaintances and take a pledge to spread awareness, beyond the four walls of our home about the existence of hunger
Please share this picture and spread the message through whatever medium that is available to you.
Please do not waste food in this blessed month ... or any other month for that matter.

Obasanjo attacks Buhari, knocks N’Assembly members

Obasanjo visits Buhari
Gbenga Adeniji
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Wednesday came hard on President Muhammadu Buhari, urging him to fix the country’s economy as he promised during electioneering rather than expressing frustration at the gloomy economic situation.
Obasanjo spoke during a lecture he delivered at the First Akintola Williams Annual Lecture in Lagos titled, “Nigeria yesterday, today and tomorrow: Governance and accountability.’’
He said that it would have been needless for Nigerians to cry for a change of government if things were rosy in the country before Buhari took over.
The ex-President also faulted the proposed borrowing of US$30bn by the Buhari administration, arguing that such would amount to taking the soft option capable of hurting the country in future.
Besides, he cautioned Buhari against castigating his administration alongside previous ones, describing such as uncharitable, fussy and uninstructive.
According to Obasanjo, if the current administration does not fix the economy to relieve the pain and anguish of many Nigerians, the gains recorded in fighting insurgency and corruption will pale into insignificance.
Obasanjo stated, “It is easier to win an election than to right the wrongs of a badly fouled situation. When you are outside, what you see and know are nothing compared with the reality. And yet once you are on seat, you have to clear the mess and put the nation on the path of rectitude, development and progress leaving no group or section out of your plan, programme and policy and efforts. The longer it takes, the more intractable the problem may become.
“I understand President Buhari’s frustration on the state of the economy inherited by him. It was the same reason and situation that brought about cry for change, otherwise there would be no need for change if it was all nice and rosy.
“Now that we have had change because the actors and the situation needed to be changed, let us move forward to have progress through a comprehensive economic policy and programme that is intellectually, strategically and philosophically based.’’
He also warned that the anger of the citizenry particularly the youth might be spurred if the current administration did not get it right in good governance and accountability.
Obasanjo also warned the Federal Government against the planned $30bn foreign it intended to take.
He said, “We immediately need loans to stabilise our foreign reserve and embark on some infrastructure development but surely not $30bn over a period of less than three years. That was about the magnitude of the cumulative debt of Nigeria which we worked and wiped out 10 years ago.
“Before that debt relief, we were spending almost $3bn to service our debt annually and the quantum of the debt was not going down. Rather, if we defaulted, we paid penalty which was added on. Economy neither obeys orders nor does it work according to wishes. It must be worked upon with all factors considered and most stakeholders involved.
“The investors, domestic and foreign, are no fools and they know what is going on with the management of the economy including the foreign exchange and they are not amused. The Central Bank must be restored to its independence and integrity. We must be careful and watchful of the danger of short-termism. Short-term may be the enemy of medium and long-term.’’
Obasanjo took a swipe at the National Assembly, describing it as a den of corruption by a gang of unarmed robbers and stinking worse than the judiciary.
He said, “Once you are a member, you are co-opted and your mouth is stuffed with rottenness and corruption that you cannot opt out as you go home with not less than N15m a month for a senator and N10m a month for a member of the House of Representatives. The National Assembly is a den of corruption by a gang of unarmed robbers.’’
He said, “If the judiciary is being cleaned, what of the National Assembly which stinks much worse than the judiciary? Budget padding must not go unpunished. It is a reality, which is a regular and systemic practice. Nobody should pull wool over the eyes of Nigerians. Ganging up to intimidate and threaten the life of a whistle-blower is deplorable and undemocratic.’’
He also accused the National Assembly of using ‘so-called constituency projects’ as a conduit for corruption.
“These constituency projects are spread over the budget for members of the National Assembly for which they are the initiators and the contractors directly or by proxy and money would be fully drawn with the project only partially executed or not executed at all. The National Assembly cabal of today is worse than any cabal that anybody may find anywhere in our national governance system at any time,” he said.
According to him, members of the National Assembly pay themselves allowances for staff and offices they do not have or maintain.
Stating that like the judiciary, the National Assembly cannot clean itself, he lamented how the re-current budget of the lawmakers with the so-called constituency projects had ballooned since the inception of the current democratic dispensation.
Obasanjo stated, “Our lawmakers are lawbreakers. They are the accused, the prosecutor, the defenders and the judge in their own case. Most of them conduct themselves and believe that they are not answerable to anybody. They are blatant in their misbehaviour, cavalier in their misconduct and arrogant in the misuse of parliamentary immunity as a shield against reprisals for their irresponsible acts of malfeasance and/or outright banditry.’’
The ex-President urged Buhari to ride on the popularity of current happenings in the judiciary to establish a highly technical team of incorruptible investigators to investigate the so-called constituency projects of the past and the present and bring culprits to book.
He faulted a situation where a person supposed to be screened by the National Assembly for public appointment would be told to give a bow without any screening because he or she was an ex-lawmaker.
He added that such an action amounted to dereliction of duty on the part of the lawmakers.
He also urged the President to return the procurement system in the military to what it used to be.
Obasanjo further said three weeks after the process of saving the judiciary began, he learnt that there might be not less than two score of judicial officers having questions to answer.
The ex-President added that when justice was only for sale and could only be purchased by the highest bidder, impunity and anarchy would be the order of the day and none would be safe.
Obasanjo stated, ‘‘There is virtually no corrupt judge without being aided by a member of the bar. The Nigerian Bar Association has the responsibility to clean up its own house and help with the cleaning of the judiciary. It is heartening though that some members of the NBA have recently called for judicial reform. Such reform must be deep, comprehensive and entail constitutional amendments as appointment and disciplines of judges are concerned. It must also be said that the good eggs within the judiciary must be proud of themselves and we must not only be proud of them but also protect them and their integrity.’’
Obasanjo also commended “all the foot soldiers in the war against corruption – the different panels of enquiries, the ICPC but particularly the EFCC which is now showing that it is a bull dog that can bite.”
He appealed to the Judiciary not to frustrate the efforts of the anti-graft agencies “through flimsy technicality and interminable adjournments.’’
In another vein, he said though Akintola Williams was never in government, his contributions surpassed those of many others who passed through portal of government without much positive achievement or contribution to show for it.

When we die, our money remains in the bank... Yet, when we are alive, we don't have enough money to spend. In reality, when we are gone, there is still a lot of money not spent. One business tycoon in China passed away. His widow, left with $1.9 billion in the bank, married his chauffeur. His chauffeur said:-
"All the while, I thought I was working for my boss... it is only now, that I realize that my boss was all the time, working for me !!!"
The cruel reality is:
It is more important to live longer than to have more wealth. So, we must strive to have a strong and healthy body, It really doesn't matter who is working for who.
