How Soldiers, Hunters Killed 150 Boko Haram Militants In Adamawa
Nigerian troops assisted by hunters and local vigilantes killed over 150 Boko Haram terrorists in Adamawa State on Tuesday, October 20, 2015.
Leadership reports that during an operation in Ser-Jaji border communities of Madagali – Gwoza council, Nigerian troops rescued 36 people including women and children, and recovered 155 cattle and sheep.
According to local and security sources, a large cache of sophisticated weapons was also recovered during the operation.
Commenting on the successful operation, Bukar Jimeta, a vigilante operative, revealed that the military had received an intelligence report indicating that the terrorists were preparing to launch audacious attacks on border communities.
“We succeeded in killing at least 150 Boko Haram members, recovered four AK 47 riffles, seven hand grenades, six locally made EIDs, 15 double barrels, and set free 36 captives including women and children,” he said.
Young Morris, the head of operations of hunters, confirmed that the joint operation was a huge success. He stressed that the hunters were ready to continue supporting the Nigerian army in the fight against the Boko Haram sect.
“Yes, the operation was a success, because women and children numbering 36 were rescued, weapons which includes AK 47 riffles, double barrels and 155 cattle and sheep were also recovered and deposited at the military base in Madagali,” he said.
Also, on the incident, the member representing Madagali and Michika federal constituency, Adamu Kamale, thanked the troops, local vigilantes and hunters for the operation and called for the deployment of more men and equipment to the area.
Meanwhile, the Joint Task Force detained 20 suspected terrorists in Nyanya, a satellite town in the Federal Capital Territory.
Olabisi Kolawole, the force spokesman, confirmed that the JTF stormed the town after an intelligence report indicating that some suspicious people may be hiding there
