Troops foil B’Haram attack on Adamawa village

Nigerian troops have foiled fresh attempts by fleeing Boko Haram insurgents to attack Kubla Village in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
 The Commanding Officer in charge of 28 taskforce Battalion, Mubi, Brigadier-General V.O Ezugwu, disclosed this to journalists in a phone interview in Yola, yesterday.
 He said the insurgents believed to be fleeing Sambisa forest had organised to attack Madagali village, but military troops ambushed them.
“We had an encounter with some Boko Haram insurgents that came with the intention to launch attacks and cause mayhem in Madagali village, but unfortunately for them we ambushed them and killed four terrorists.
“We recovered all the IEDs that they wanted to use to cause mayhem on the people of the area, the situation is under control now,” he explained.
 General Ezugwu said the intelligence report they got ahead of the failed attack assisted the troops in ambushing the insurgents where four of them were killed as a result of the gun duel that ensued between the troops and the terrorists in Kubla village.
 He stated that the continuous offensive against the insurgents at their Sambisa enclave is yielding positive result as they have been dislodged and are in disarray, while looking for escape routes in some of the bordering villages.
“He added that many IEDs were recovered from the terrorists who retreated due to the super-fire power from the Nigerian troops,” he stated.
 Commenting on the fate of returning villagers to their abodes, he assured them that surveillance and patrolling of the areas is a continuous one until absolute success is achieved.
“We are equal to the task of fighting these insurgents with a view to defeating them totally before the December deadline and we are assuring the people not to panic because the situation is under control,” he emphasised.
