The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kaduna South division, Kaduna State, yesterday paraded three suspects over an alleged criminal trespass at Queen Amina College, Kaduna, a female boarding school.
Parading the suspects at the divisional office of NSCDC, Kakuri in Kaduna South, the divisional officer, Chief Superintendent of Corps, Echono Suzan said a distress call was received by the management of the school over a criminal trespass by some persons and they responded promptly, leading to the arrest of the suspects.
She said, “We swung into action as soon as we received the distress call and three suspects, namely Ibrahim Suleiman, 21, Onyeka Obi, 24, and Agbo Daniel, 30, were apprehended.
“While Ibrahim Suleiman was arrested on 17th October, , the other two suspects were apprehended on 18th October, 2015.
“But for the timely intervention from our men, one of the suspects would have been lynched but we rescued him and took him to the hospital for treatment.”
The suspects, when interrogated, however, denied any criminal intention as it was being alleged, claiming to have been arrested around the fence of the school while smoking cigarettes.
Obi said, “I was just coming from Barnawa and I saw some boys discussing with some girls across the fence while smoking and I asked them for lighter to lit my cigarette; all of a sudden, the security from civil defence came around and arrested us.”
The other suspects also gave similar reasons and also denied the allegation of criminal trespass.
However, the divisional officer said the suspects will be handed over to the police for further investigation and appropriate prosecution.
