The acting Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Bello Haliru Mohammed, has stated that the people of Bayelsa State defied the chaos, murder and intimidation during the recent governorship re-run elections in the state to re-elect Governor Seriake Dickson because they believe the PDP remains the party of choice that has no alternative in the country.

He added that by the outcome of the elections, the people of the state have offered a standard template for all supporters and loyalists of the party across the country on how to defy political intimidation while shunning violence towards achieving electoral victory.

The party chieftain made the statement recently in Abuja during a congratulatory visit to him by top PDP stalwarts and some members of the PDP National Campaign Committee on 2015 Bayelsa State governorship election of which he was Chairman.

While congratulating the governor and the people of the state for the victory which he described as well-deserved, Mohammed lauded Dickson for the audacity, consistency and tenacity which he said was gallantly exhibited throughout the course of the entire elections in the state in the face of intimidation and victimisation by the All Progressives Party (APC).

According to him, “I congratulate our candidate and incumbent Governor, Dickson, for his well-deserved victory especially his consistency and tenacity which he has eminently displayed as our candidate. I also thank the good people of state for remaining consistent and steadfast despite the intimidation and even murder of some voters.

“I call on PDP supporters across the country to remain steadfast and consistent like the people of Bayelsa State. The PDP is still the party of choice in Nigeria and with the re-organisation going on, the party will be ready to offer an alternative to the chaos in the country.”
