SUPERABOUNDING GRACE FOR YOU
2 Corinthians 9:8
And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.
If you were in the same synagogue as the man with the withered hand (Luke 6:6–11), how would you see him and what do you think you would say to him?
Jesus was preaching in that synagogue when He saw the man with the withered hand. But He also saw superabounding grace around that hand for healing and wholeness. He sees differently from us. He sees the invisible. He sees that the kingdom of God is here, ever-present in any situation, with superabundant supply. We see only the visible, which is tangible, temporal and which seems so real to us.
But Jesus saw superabounding grace on that withered hand for healing because you do not tell a man with a withered hand, “Stretch out your hand,” unless you see the supply, the superabundance for wholeness for that hand. Jesus called forth the superabounding grace to envelop that man’s withered hand, and the hand was made whole.
It is possible for someone who is sick to have superabounding grace on him and yet that superabundance of grace does not heal his body. That is because he keeps acknowledging the lack or the problem he sees. He is more concerned with that which is visible and temporal.
Instead of calling forth, and acknowledging and confessing the superabundance of God’s grace, he confesses his negative circumstance all the time. So even though the superabounding grace is there, it is there in vain. Isn’t that sad?
Jesus called forth life, and life sprang into visibility. We must call forth what we want to see. Say, “Father, I thank You that right now, though my health is under attack, there is superabounding grace available for my healing and health. I call it forth and receive it now in Jesus’ name. Amen!”
My friend, don’t be conscious of what you see lacking or missing. Be conscious of God’s superabounding grace for you and avail yourself of it!

economic policies are not feasible, outdated – Ezekwesili dares Buhari
Erstwhile Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili has taken a swipe at the current economic policies of President Muhammadu Buhari, describing them as opaque and archaic.
Speaking at The Platform, a yearly public policy forum currently holding in Abuja, Ezekwesili said the Buhari’s current economic policies are similar to those he promulgated during the military regime he led in the 1980s.
According to Ezekwesili, Buhari’s “archaic and opaque,” economic principles are not only encouraging massive corruption and abuse of power, but also hurting the poor they were intended to help.
She said, “During the first coming of this our new president, a command and control economic system was adopted.
“During that era, inflation spiralled. During that era, jobs were lost. During that era, the economic growth level dipped.
“That era wasn’t the best of eras in economic progress.
“What did not work in 1984 cannot possibly be a solution in a global economy that’s much more integrated.
Ezekwesili accused the President for rehashing the same “command and control” approach towards economic issues, this she claimed has left the nations economy in a bad state one year after his assumption of office.
She said, “In over one year, the president is still holding to the premise that command and control is the only way out.
“In a year we have lost the single digits inflation status we maintained in past administrations.
The former Minister further called on the President and his team to consider the effect of their policies on the nation.
“The President should sit with his team and look at the economic evidence that speaks loudly. It’s time to sit back and review the well-intended idea of command and control economic principle.
“He should do what the Americans say that if it ain’t broken, don’t fix it,” she advised.

So now she knows it wasn't broken in the last administration? Gradually they will all confess.

President Muhammadu Buhari’s current economic policies are similar to those he promulgated during the military regime he led in the 1980s, a former Minister of Education and social critic, Oby Ezekwesili, has said.
Mrs. Ezekwesili said Mr. Buhari’s “archaic” and “opaque” economic principles are not only encouraging massive corruption and abuse of power, but also hurting the poor they was intended to help.
Mrs. Ezekwesili said this at The Platform, a yearly public policy forum that is currently underway in Abuja.
“During the first coming of this our new president, a command and control economic system was adopted.
“During that era, inflation spiralled. During that era, jobs were lost. During that era, the economic growth level dipped,” Mrs. Ezekwesili said. “That era wasn’t the best of eras in economic progress.”
“What did not work in 1984 cannot possibly be a solution in a global economy that’s much more integrated.”
Mrs. Ezekwesili said Mr. Buhari was rehashing the same “command and control” approach towards economic issues which has left the country’s economic indices worse off since he assumed office almost year ago.
“In over one year, the president is still holding to the premise that command and control is the only way out,” Mrs. Ezekwesili said. “In a year we have lost the single digits inflation status we maintained in past administrations.”
Mrs. Ezekwesili said Mr. Buhari’s distortion of foreign exchange system has left the poor it was intended to support even worse off.
“The president comes into this economic philosophy on the premise that he does not want the poor to suffer. I can relate to that, a leader must, especially a leader who knows that most of his votes came not from the elite but from the poor.”
“The problem though is that the intention and the outcome are diverged.
“The weakest and the most vulnerable suffer the impact of inflation the most. Enormous power is being abused as a result of opaque economic policies.
“Companies are suddenly finding themselves unable to produce because they’re unable to access foreign exchange,” Mrs. Ezekwesili said.
Mrs. Ezekwesili, therefore, urged Mr. Buhari to sit down with his administration officials and reconsider the impact his polices have had on the nation’s economy, quoting an American parlance that says if something is not broken there’s no need fixing it”.

A man before leaving for work, left a letter on the dining table for his wife. Chores around the house kept the woman from seeing the letter until about 12 noon. When she finally chanced on the letter she was so excited to see that her husband had taken time to write her a letter. She kissed the paper when she saw “my beautiful wife” at the top, hugged it when she saw “I love you with all my heart” at the bottom, and sniffed it when she realized it smelled of her husband’s perfume.
Out of excitement, and without even bothering to read the content of the letter, she made up her mind to cook him his favorite meal for dinner that night. She quickly rushed to the kitchen and got to work. After cooking and setting the table, she went to the wash room and took a shower, put on her most attractive night gown and dressed the bed.
Just as she was about to finish laying the bed her husband walked into the house. When she heard him come in she went out to welcome him. To her surprise, her husband was very furious when he saw her. She became very confused and asked why he wouldn’t even let her welcome him with a hug but instead have that angry look on his face.
The husband asked, “Did you read the letter I left you on the table?”
The woman responded, “Oh yes I saw it. That’s why I went through all the trouble to prepare your favorite meal for you. Thank you so much honey, it was sweet of you.”
She leaned in to give him a kiss but he pushed her away to her surprise.
The husband went on, “If you did, then why haven’t you done any of the things I instructed you to do?”
The man went inside and came out again quickly with an already packed suit case. He headed straight for the door and said to his wife, “See you in 7 days.”
The woman stood there confused but before she could utter a word, the door had slammed behind him.
She went back to the dining table to take a second look at the letter.
It read……
My beautiful wife, My company has asked 4 colleges and myself to go on a seven day trip to Dubai for a training program. They said that we can bring along our wives and I thought this will be the best opportunity for us to have the honeymoon we never did after we got married.
I have already packed a suit case for myself, so please pack yours. Our flight leaves at exactly 7 pm so I will be home at 6 o’clock for us to go to the airport. No need to cook dinner since there will be food on the plane. Just be prepare to go as soon as I get back. Please be ready before I get back so we don't miss the flight. I Love you with all my heart.
I bet you thought this woman was unwise when you realized her mistake as you read this piece.
Well unfortunately this is the state of many Christians in the Body of Christ today. We have accepted Jesus as our Lord, and are excited about being children of God and the fact that He will come back again for us one day. But we have not taken into account what He expects us to do before His return.
This is because our Bibles are closed. We have read a few scriptures in the Word and are excited about promises but have completely ignored most of his instructions.
You do not know a man if you do not know His Word.
How then do we profess to be married to a groom whose word we have relegated to the background in the pursuit of signs and wonders.
Unfortunately what many don’t know is that the Word is the power for signs and wonders, so if we go for the word these things we are chasing will chase us.
Let us pay attention to His letter, which is the Word of God. It will draw us close to His desire for us and enable us to walk in victory over this world and it's challenges.
Do Have a Glorious Day!!!

Senator Babafemi Ojudu Narrates How Our Budget Was Padded Under Jonathan.
.
"In my state in 2013, they budgeted for the construction of five roads in Ekiti State and I picked up the budget, looked at the details. How could you say you are building a road in Kebbi, a town in Nasarawa State and you put it in Ekiti State? Apparently some groups were playing games in the ministry of works. And I shouted and cried out to the minister that, “This is wrong! This is theft!” They called me in and tried to pacify me but I said, “No. What you should do is, if there are roads to be constructed in Ekiti, construct them in Ekiti. If there are no roads to be constructed in Ekiti, remove these items from the budget.”
.
"Severally things like that happened under the previous administration and had been happening, at all levels of the preparation, presentation and approval of the budget. So, the President is saying this is not going to happen. People involved are not yet used to this new way. They are still fighting. They are still kicking and they have their plans. May be you want to tell somebody with building in Dubai that he wants to complete based on what he is going to make from this budget. Everybody who is involved is angry. That is why you are seeing these. If they absorb this new system of doing things this year, seamlessly, the budget will be passed next year without any controversy because they would have been used to this new system. So, the fact that this controversy itself is coming out is to show that there is a change in place.
.
"Under previous governments, the budget would go through the ministries and the budget office padded, then to the National Assembly and the National Assembly would also add its own padding. They would give the highlights of the budget to the president and he signed. As he was signing, they were adding more to it, and there were billions of naira free out there for people to share.
.
"But this President is saying, “No way. Whatever leaves my ministry and passed to the budget office must be the one that gets to the National Assembly and must be the one that comes to me fully without any padding before I sign.” That is change for you.
.
"It is going to be tough for you to have said there is no way any longer for people who have made a career of padding budgets, taking money out of the system and putting it into their pockets building all kinds of mansions, transferring abroad to all sorts of things. But this man said, “This is not going to happen.
.
"I will give you an instance, in one of the key ministries, a businessman came with a bogus bill owed by that ministry and went to the minister and said, “look, they are owing me two billion naira. I want you to help me make provision for it in the budget so that I can collect my money.”
.
The minister said, “I do not know about this debt. We want to do things for people with this budget.” And the man left, went to some elements in the budget office and got them to agree to pad the budget with that two billion naira (those elements have been fired now).
.
"So, when the minister now appeared before the relevant committee in the Senate and found out that two billion naira had been brought into his budget, he said, “look, I am not going to take this. This is not my budget. We are going to withdraw this and I will come and show you what we sent to the budget office and what was sent to the National Assembly.
.
"In the past, it would have been allowed. So, the man who went to where they padded the thing would have promised to let go with some millions of naira.
.
"When I was in the Senate (under Jonathan) I kept shouting, pointing out some of these paddings but nobody listened to me then. They were even faking so much that they would go and revive some of the dead agencies of government and they would allocate billions of naira to those agencies. One way or the other, money would be taken out based on that."
.
Senator Babafemi Ojudu was in the 7th Senate, but now the Special Adviser to President Muhammadu
Buhari on Political Matters.

That is why you are seeing these.

"In my state in 2013, they budgeted for the construction of five roads in Ekiti State and I picked up the budget, looked at the details.

Good morning everyone. Many people have been wondering what could be the cause of the incessant tyre burst accidents on Nigerian roads. The major cause is that we put to much pressure in our tyres. How did I know?
I was preparing for a journey, I changed some of my tyres and I asked the vulcanizer that ' what is the recommended tyre pressure? ' He said 50. I said alright, he should inflate it to 50 all round.
When I got to where I was going, I was discussing with some ppl on the issue of the minister that died on the road due to a burst tyre and wonder what could have happened because nobody could imagine a minister would be travelling with expired tyres as many would think is the major cause of tyre burst.
A man ( lived in US for many years ) said that the major cause of tyre burst in Nigeria is that we put to much pressure in our tyres and that each car has recommended tyre size and pressure clearly written on it by the manufacturer. I was surprised and begged him to come and show me where it's written on my car. To my greatest surprise, it's by the drivers door which I enter everyday without noticing it. By the time we checked, the recommended pressure for my tyres is 32! and I just traveled with tyres on a pressure of 50! He took me round his compound and showed me that of the cars (which includes a jeep and a sienna) there, the highest was 32. some were even 29!
He further explained that tyres are made of rubber and expands at high temperature. So, when yu are travelling in the afternoon when the asphalt on the road is hot, the tyre will want to expand. If the pressure in the tyre is to much and wouldn't accommodate the expansion, a burst is likely to happen at that time.
Pls check the recommended tyre pressure for your vehicle and others you know.#copied

From what I see today in Nigeria I am very certain that Muslims would not need to use a violent jihad
From what I see today in Nigeria I am very certain that Muslims would not need to use a violent jihad to islamize Nigeria. CHRISTIANS themselves will be used by Muslims to islamize Nigeria. Afterwards the Muslims will turn against the Christians that helped them. These are the type Muslims call the useful idiots.
Just ask yourself how Muslim nations became Islamic nations? Is there any record of them doing evangelical work? Did they tell people about how wonderful their prophet Mohammed is? How he raped women? How he beheaded nine hundred Jews in one day? How he had sex with a nine year old girl? How he was demon possessed for one year? How he could not perform a miracle? How he is a prophet without a prophecy? How he sold slaves for weapons of war?
If MUSLIMS did not do evangelism how come there are 58 nations of the world Who say they are ISLAMIC countries? Including countries that used to be Christian countries.
They used greedy pastors and stupid Christians. The ones they call the USEFUL IDIOTS. The Bible says, when men slept.....
These same CHRISTIANS were the ones that told us the elections had nothing to do with religion.
***News flash! Buhari just registered Nigeria in the Islamic coalition against terrorism led by Saudi Arabia. The very same Saudi Arabia that is the chief sponsor of Islamic terrorism.
***Newsflash! The first major conference buhari would bring to Nigeria is the INTERNATIONAL ISLAMIC CONFERENCE . A conference that pastor vice president cannot attend. While 'clueless' GEJ was convening INTERNATIONAL ECONOMIC CONFERENCE at a time of plenty Buhari is convening ISLAMIC CONFERENCE at a time of economic crisis. Now you see where his priority lies.
***Newsflash! Muslims are now using El Rufai Kaduna as a test case to see how they can stop CHRISTIANS from preaching the gospel not even for you to listen to a gospel message in your car. Who knows they may even ban gospel music.
***Newsflash! Other northern states are copying Mr El Rufai's law.
***Newsflash! Fulani herdsmen are sacking Christian villages in the north.
***Newsflash! Ambode sealed over twenty churches in Lagos for noise pollution. Not one Allah Akbar morning yelling mosque was sealed. Ambode is supposed to be a Christian remember? What do Muslims call them again?? Something like useful....
***Newsflash! The chapel at Aso Rock has been shut down and guess who had to explain to CHRISTIANS? Yeah our very own Pastor vice president. Again another I have fact the major very useful..... Who they used to get the Christian votes.
***Newsflash! The only minister to have died under Buhari happens to be a Christian Apologist. I mean a strong defender of the gospel of Jesus. Somehow all the safety features in the car suddenly stopped working. Not one airbag deployed. Remember this is a federal minister riding in a very expensive car fitted with the best safety features. Did I also mention that the driver did not die? He was strong enough to pull out the body of the minister. Issokay.
I hear many Christians say it is impossible to islamize Nigeria. Question is, If they try it today will you pick up arms? What are you doing to make sure it does not happen?
Make No Mistake pls, this message is shared as received. Keep sharing to raise everyone's awareness.its time to pray Christian and effect changes it can go on like this, pray for Nigeria

REDEEMED FROM EVERY TYPE OF SICKNESS
REDEEMED FROM EVERY TYPE OF SICKNESS
Galatians 3:13
Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”),
The One who cleansed lepers, opened blind eyes and made the lame to walk took your sins, sicknesses and every curse when He hung on Calvary’s tree. The curses that were meant for you because of your sins fell on Him instead. He was cursed in your place to redeem you from every curse that comes as a result of breaking God’s laws.
What are these curses? They are listed in Deuteronomy 28. It is a long and detailed list. Don’t get frightened when you read the curses, but rejoice because Christ has redeemed you from every single one of them, including those curses of sicknesses!
Are you stricken with tuberculosis, fever or inflammation? (Deuteronomy 28:22) Christ has redeemed you from every one of these conditions!
Do you have painful boils, tumors or an itch which doctors say cannot be healed? (Deuteronomy 28:27) Christ has redeemed you from every one of these conditions!
Perhaps yours is a serious and prolonged sickness. (Deuteronomy 28:59) It doesn’t matter. Christ has redeemed you from every prolonged sickness!
“Well, you might say I have covered tuberculosis, fever, itch…but what about my disease? It is not covered in Deuteronomy 28. Did Jesus forget my disease?”
No, His work is perfect! Look at Deuteronomy 28:61: “Also every sickness and every plague, which is not written in this Book of the Law, will the Lord bring upon you until you are destroyed.” That covers everything. So if Christ has redeemed you from this curse, then He has redeemed you from every type of sickness! I don’t care what new type of sickness the world discovers because Christ has redeemed us from every type of sickness!
Now, if you have a particular sickness, say, “This (name the sickness) is part of the curse of the law. But Galatians 3:13 says that Christ has redeemed me from the curse of the law. Therefore, I have been redeemed from (name the sickness)!” Believe and confess that every day, and as surely as Jesus took every curse of sickness, your healing will break forth!

The Role of Romance in a Relationship and its
The Role of Romance in a Relationship and its
In order to meet success, long-term relationships do take work. Many couples share in the sense that their relationships lack fulfillment after a period of time. While turmoil in any relationship is part of the course, long-term feelings of neglect or a lack of desire are not.
The secret to keeping love alive is in putting forth the effort that you did when love was new.
Indeed, partners often wonder why their relationships fail, where those loving feelings have gone, or why they feel under-appreciated by their partners. This generally happens after the “honeymoon period”. In some cases, couples may not experience this sense of loss for years. But what about the couples that never seem discontented, whose displays of admiration for one another are apparent even after decades of marriage. Indeed, they are doing something right. Happily married couples with a long history together, have managed to preserve some of the elements that were present while they were in the early stages of courtship.
Consider the time when you and your current partner were dating, before things got serious. Though you had a lot of fun, you were probably putting in a great deal of effort to keep them interested. What were those things you did differently, and how does the past compare with the present?
Romance is one of the more crucial elements to happiness in relationships. Many partners do not really know what romance is or how to implement it. Understanding why romance is so crucial is a necessary first step to those interested in rekindling love. But what are the little things you did to get his attention, to keep him interested, to win him over? We’d be willing to bet those things are no longer happening. We often do not realize how much work we were putting in the beginning, nor do we notice our decreased effort, and how that can lead to an emotional breakdown and stagnancy.
So what is romance, anyway?
Generally, romance includes one or more of the following:
1. Small actions that convey affection, adoration, thoughtfulness, and love.
2. Activities or actions of novelty-actions executed for no other purpose than to enhance feelings of joy and connectedness.
3. Class – activities or events that add a touch of high living.
4. Any actions which bring a couple closer or show thoughtfulness and adoration
How to rekindle or add romance in a relationship
Creating romance in a relationship becomes easy when you become mindful of the below:
1. Bonding
Created through experiences that bring partners closer. This can be brought about through acts of affection, gift-giving, reminiscing, meaningful conversation, laughter, and intimacy.
2. Fun
Romance should be a joyful experience; and is often reflected through enjoyable activities such as going to the movies, the carnival, attending parties together, or playing games.
3. Humor
Humor is a major element to most romance. Couples with a good sense of humor will enjoy cheesy adages, funny greeting cards, comics, and laughing at the absurd.
4. Nostalgia
Being together a long time, couples are able to share memories by reflecting on the past. Going through old photos or revisiting past hang-out spots can bring back old feelings and thus, enhance bonds.
5. Intimacy
Introducing new elements into your sex life, or simply engaging in sexual activities more often, will certainly increase romance. Although romance may lead to intimacy, intimacy and romance can fuel one another.
6. Adventure
Spontaneity – out of the ordinary activities that promote a sense of adventure, such as hiking in the woods together, getting “lost” on a drive, or doing something taboo- like visiting an adult book store- are great ways to create romance through adventure.
7. Respect
Romancing your lover should convey respect and reciprocity.
8. Appreciation
Romance invites appreciation, likewise, appreciation will create the impetus to initiate romantic activities with your partner.
9. Passion
Involves strong feelings of enthusiasm, and joy, and powerful or compelling feelings of love and desiring.
Romance feeds the elements that comprise a loving relationship. Without it, desire and adoration for one another will almost assuredly fade, rendering the relationship dull and mundane. Understanding the importance of practicing romance in your relationships will add spark to your love life, prolong feelings of connectedness & result in your ultimate happiness for years to come.
Why Romance Is Important
Have you ever read an engagement story? We've come across some real winners! One man proposed to his girlfriend, a kindergarten teacher, by making an announcement over the school's public address system during class. Another pre-recorded his propsoal and arranged for it to be aired on a local radio station in the middle of his girlfriend's favorite song. It seems there is no end to our innovation when we're trying to win the one we love.
So what is it about marriage that seems to dull our romantic creativity? As some point in almost every marriage, a couple realizes their engagement was like an exciting introduction to a dull book.
An Everyday Diet
Romance is not the foundation of a marriage. It is the fire in the fireplace — the warmth and security of a relationship that says, "We may have struggles, but I love you, and everything is okay." We ought to make romance a part of our everyday diet in our marriage relationship. Look at what the Bible speaks of in proverbs 5:18-19: "…and rejoice in the wife of your youth, as a loving hind and graceful doe, let her breast satisfy you at all times. Be exhilarated always with her love."
That's a powerful image — to be literally exhilarated by your spouse. This type of romance is part of what sets a marriage apart from just a friendship. Barbara is my friend, but there is also a side of our friendship that goes way beyond that — we share a marriage bed together, and we dream thoughts and exchange intimacies that are shared with nobody else on this planet. That's what God intended, we believe, in the marriage relationship.
God Created Romance
We find it interesting that God found romance and sex so important that He dedicated an entire book in the Bible, Song of Solomon, to encourage us to experience it. This poetic book provides a rich description of what a romantic, sexual relationship between man and wife should be like. Just look at how the book begins: "May he kiss me with the kisses of his mouth!…Draw me after you and let us run together!" Song of Solomon 1:2a,4a
Throughout the book, Solomon and his beloved, Shulamith, talk enthusiastically about romance, sexual love, and each other's bodies. Note what Solomon says about Shulamith: "How beautiful are your feet in sandals, O prince's daughter! The curves of your hips are like jewels, the work of the hands of an artist. Your navel is like a round goblet which never lacks mixes wine; your belly is like a heap of wheat fenced about with lilies. Your two breasts are like two fawns, twins of a gazelle…Your stature is like a palm tree, and your breasts are like its clusters. I said, 'I will climb the palm tree, I will take hold of its fruit stalks.' Oh, may your breasts be like clusters of the vine, and the fragrances of your breath like apples, and your mouth like the best wine!" Song of Solomon 7:1-3,7-9
And Shulamith does not mince words either: "My beloved is dazzling and ruddy, outstanding among ten thousand…and he is wholly desirable" Song of Solomon 5:10,16a.
Romantic love is a part of God's character. He made us in His image, and He gave us emotions. Just as He woos us to follow after Him and express our love for Him, so a husband and wife attempt to win each other's affections. We believe husbands and wives are modeling what God is up to as He pursues individuals.
In his classic book, My Utmost for His Highest, Oswald Chambers writes, "Human nature if it is healthy demands excitement. And if it does not obtain its thrilling excitement in the right way it will seek it in the wrong. God never made bloodless stoics, He made passionate saints."
We love that quote because that's the picture of how God loves His people. He wired us to have excitement and thrill and adventure. Romantic love was meant to sweep us along in a steady current all the way through married life. While we cannot base marriage solely on romantic feelings, we also can't deny our need for the closeness and intimacy. Without those qualities in a relationship, a couple will drift into isolation.
Rekindling the Fire
If you are experiencing severe physical, emotional, or verbal abuse in your marriage, you probably need to focus on those issues before you worry about romance. But most of us could use some more romance, no matter how good our marriage relationship is. You can't expect the intense feelings of engagement and early marriage to last. You'll need a game plan so that you can fall back on your commitment to one another during those times when your feelings waver. You'll need to spend the rest of your life learning how to romance your spouse.
Christian marriage was meant to be an exciting adventure. So if you want to put some park back into your relationship, we have two tips.
First, become a student of your spouse. You probably know that men and women view romance through different lenses. Men focus on the physical: a sexy nightie or adventurous sexual encounter is hard to beat for them! But it's difficult for a man to remember to cultivate the intimate relationship his wife needs. Women, however, are motivated by relationship. They might prefer sitting by the fire or spending time talking, and they end up resenting their husbands' sex drive. You can imagine the potential for unmet expectations. It's a lesson I (Dennis) learned the hard way.
Years ago, some friends surprised Barbara and me by sending us to Mexico for a much-needed vacation. We had a suite with a balcony, and one evening enjoyed a spectacular dinner on the beach with the balmy breezes blowing ever so gently over our table. Then we went back to our room where the candles were lit, the windows were open, and romantic music drifted up from below, with the muffled crash of the surf in the background.
There had been a brief thundershower and the moon was peeking through the clouds over the ocean. It was a perfect evening. Barbara was spectacularly beautiful. It was the perfect moment for love and romance, but there was one problem — an imperfect man. I tried to rush things physically while Barbara was focused on the relational. She wanted to be held tenderly and enjoy the beauty of the moment, while I was in a hurry.
When she didn't respond, I got so angry I threw a bottle of hand lotion through a window! The romance was shattered, and the evening ruined. We both shed tears, and I confessed my selfishness and lack of sensitivity to her need. I vowed that in the future I would learn to do a better job of denying myself, quit making demands on her, and be more patient. As we both look back, it was a pivotal point in the development of our relationship.
Second, take time to plan creative romance. Do something different, out of the ordinary, something that will capture your mate's attention. Now, I want you to know that for many years I've thought of myself as a pretty creative, romantic man. Then I heard of Mark Montgomery and the "Men of the Titanic."
Mark put together a group of men who resolved to demonstrate that they love their wives sacrificially. They named themselves after the men who sacrificed their lives so their wives and children could board lifeboats as that famous ocean liner sank back in 1912.
For six months they planned the most incredible evening a woman could imagine. Every detail was carefully shaped around what would mean the most to their wives. First, the wives received handwritten invitations, and limousines arrived to pick them up to take them to a banquet hall the men had rented. As the harpist played in the background, gentlemen greeted ladies with a courtly bow.
Each wife was escorted to her place where a beautiful embroidered napkin and corsage awaited her. The husbands had been trained on how to serve the meal, and they presented an impeccable six-course dinner to their wives — an exact replica of the meal served in the first-class dining on the night the Titanic sank. They even sang love songs between courses!
After the meal, one of the men read a letter that he said was written by a man as he watched his wife float away in a lifeboat. All eyes were on him as he read the letter, full of love and praise and affection for his wife. As he finished the letter, he revealed that he had actually written the letter himself for his wife. Each man in turn presented a similar letter to his own wife, written on parchment and tied with a ribbon. The beautiful evening concluded with a song thought to have been sung as the Titanic sank — in perfect harmony the men sang "Nearer My God to Thee."
When I interviewed Mark on "FamilyLife Today," he said, "There was something sacred about the entire evening. It was a celebration of our wives as gifts from God to us!"
The Men of the Titanic went on to plan other special adventures for their wives. One event had a medieval theme, complete with a knight's quest, an enchanted forest, ballroom dancing, and a coronation ceremony. Afterward, one wife said of her husband: "He tells me he loves me in words and by the things he does, but this was such a big thing.… It isn't that Frank isn't a romantic, but this definitely fanned the flame!"
Will you build romance into your marriage?
Men, how do you feel after reading that? Under the pile, like I did? The question, however, is not whether you want to create your own local chapter of the Men of the Titanic, but whether you will make the effort to find creative ways to express how much you appreciate and value your wife. And, I could give the same challenge to wives as well!
Rekindling the romance in your marriage doesn't require a lot of money, and it often doesn't even take much time. What you do need is the commitment to do it. Like any good fire in the fireplace, it needs attention and fuel. The warmth is worth it!
Have you ever read an engagement story? We've come across some real winners! The Ihiagwa and Nekede Communities women recipe for marauding Fulani herdsmen
The Ihiagwa and Nekede Communities women recipe for marauding Fulani herdsmen.
Nekede and Ihiagwa are 2 neighboring communities in Owerri hosting the Federal Polytechnic Nekede and Federal University of Technology Owerri.
Sometime last year, the activities of these Fulani herdsmen became so unbearable with destruction of farms and rape. The women gathered and thought of what to do to stop these killer Fulani herdsmen wielding AK 47. In contrast, the women had no gun, knife nor any other weapon but their brains.
They came together and reasoned what to do to drive them from their communities without firing a shot. They agreed and tasked every woman in the communities to contribute 1 derica cup of grounded pepper each. They brought the pepper together and organized themselves in groups in the night to spread the peppers across all the farms in Nekede and Ihiagwa. The following morning, the marauders came as usual with their cows. Low and behold in less than 30 minutes they lost 15 cows because when cows smell or ingest pepper, they die. Immediately the Fulani herdsmen fled with their remaining cows and sanity returned to Nekede and Ihiagwa.
Now that these marauders have been emboldened to attack Igboland with impunity, let every true son and daughter of Ala Igbo come together and contribute 1 cup of grounded pepper. If you are not in Igboland, you can sponsor 5 cups of pepper to be spread across all farmland in Igboland. We can drive them away without firing a shot. If their cows die enmass while grazing on our farmlands, they will leave our land in peace.
The time for action is now. Ohanaeze and all other Igbo socio cultural groups take note.
Please share until this gets to the attention of every community in Ala Igbo.
