Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai yesterday resumed his demolition exercise with demolition of shops around popular Pprinters Village and Government Secondary School, Doka in Kaduna North Local Government Area of the state.
It would be recalled that El-Rufai, after a court order restraining him from continuing with the exercise since August, took a pause only to resume the exercise yesterday.
From information gathered by our reporter, about 200 shops around the Government School on Muri Road, by Lagos Street, were destroyed.
Some of the shop owners were seen trying to rescue and recover some of their properties from the demolished buildings.
According to a shop owner named Ayo, they were served notice in August and today (yesterday) they came to carry out the demolition exercise, saying “though we were allowed to carry out our things before the demolition exercise.”
It was also gathered that the demolition exercise was carried out on shops around Maiduguri Road and popular Obalende area in Kaduna North Local Government Area of the state.
It would also be recalled that El-Rufai commenced the exercise in Zaria with demolition of buildings at the Alhudahuda College area and now continued the exercise in Kaduna metropolis.
