THREE Nigerians were killed in a suicide attack carried out by two suspected Boko Haram female suicide bombers.
The Nigerians were among other refugees on a truck in a town in the far North region of Cameroun.
While security check was ongoing, the first bomb went off, which was alleged to have killed the suicide bomber. It was, however, not certain whether or not the second bomber detonated the bomb before Camerounian forces opened fire.
Boko Haram insurgents have waged a six-year campaign of violence, killing thousands of people and displacing many from their communities in the North-Eastern of Nigeria.
Neighbouring countries, including Cameroun and Chad joined forces against the group in 2014, as its offensive spread beyond Nigeria’s borders.
Similarly, the Government of the Republic of Chad has declared a state of emergency in the Lake Chad region following series of raids and suicide bombings by members of Boko Haram.
