Female banker arraigned for N90m fraud

A 32-year-old female banker, Adejumoke Anthony, who allegedly aided some fraudsters to steal N90 million from a commercial bank, was on Wednesday arraigned by police at a Lagos State Magistrate’s Court in Igbosere.
The defendant, a resident of Lekki, is standing trial on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, Corporal Innocent Odugbo, told the court that the accused committed the offences sometime in March 2013 at Lekki.
He accused the defendant of conspiring with others still at large to fraudulently obtain and steal N90 million belonging to customers of the bank, Mr. and Mrs. Babatunde Oduewu.
The alleged offences, the prosecutor said, contravened Sections 285 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
  
Convictions under Sections 285 and 409 provide for a maximum of two and three years imprisonment respectively.
However, the defendant denied all the charges.
The magistrate, Mrs. A. O. Awogboro, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N5million with two sureties in like sum.
The matter was adjourned till January 26, 2016.
