The Ebonyi State governor, Chief Dave Umahi, yesterday suspended indefinitely the special adviser in charge of Lagos State Liaison Office, Mrs Jacinta Nworie, for alleged unruly behaviour and acts inconsistent with her mandate.
A statement signed by the governor’s principal secretary, Chief Nweke Clement, and made available to LEADERSHIP, said the suspension followed alleged unruly behaviours, acts inconsistent with her mandate and acts unbecoming of a public office holder which portrayed the state in bad light.
The statement further directed the suspended special adviser to immediately hand over all government properties in her possession to the most senior civil servant in the office before proceeding on the suspension.
Mrs. Nworie was last week redeployed to the state to assume the position of Special Adviser on Talent Development under the Office of the Secretary to the State Government.
LEADERSHIP reliably gathered that the suspension might not be unconnected to the refusal of Mrs. Nworie to return to the state one week after the governor ordered her immediate redeployment.
The governor had last month threatened that he would not hesitate to sack any commissioner or special adviser that is found exhibiting acts of unruly behaviour.
According to sources close to the Governor’s Office, the suspension has sent jitters among commissioners and special advisers as some commissioners may face suspension over alleged incompetence.
Chief Umahi had last week also retired all the permanent secretaries in the different ministries of the state.
