Man, 18, commits suicide over brother’s rebuke

An 18-year-old man on Saturday allegedly took his own life over a rebuke by his elder brother at their residence in Kubwa, Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
 The deceased, a twin, identified as Ayuba Yakubu, was said to have died after drinking a bottle of poisonous substance suspected to be Sniper insecticide.
 City News gathered that the elder brother, who was preparing for his wedding ceremony had brought his parents from the village to his house for the event.
 The source said the deceased had a serious misunderstanding with his elder brother, who rebuked him.
“The deceased, who could no longer tolerate the rebuke, dashed to the room, took the bottle of the poisonous substance and drank the contents,” our source added.
 The source further revealed that the deceased was already unconscious when he was discovered.
 City News, however learnt that he was immediately rushed to the Kubwa General Hospital where efforts to revive him failed.
 The head, Accident and Emergency unit, Paul Olise, confirmed the death, saying the corpse had been taken away by the relations for burial.
