Police recover cars stolen at Kubwa in Makurdi

Police in Kubwa have recovered two vehicles stolen in different locations in Kubwa, a satellite town in the FCT, in Makurdi, Benue State.
The two cars, a Honda Civic and Toyota Carina E, stolen where they were parked in front of a commercial bank and a church in the area respectively, were recovered following a tip-off by the suspected robber.
City News had earlier reported that the suspect, one Jerome Ezra was caught and arrested while trying to remove a Toyota car where it was parked in front of a bank within the same area.
A police source said during police interrogation, the suspect confessed that he had stolen some cars a month earlier which he took to Makurdi and sold them.
It said the police quickly swung into action leading to the recovery of the Honda Civic car in Makurdi from a man who bought it from the suspect.
The source further said the Carina E car, sold to another person by the suspect, was also recovered few weeks later in the same town from a panel beater while trying to re-paint it.
When contacted, the Kubwa Divisional Police Officer, Chief Superintendent Nuruddeen Sabo, said the two suspected buyers have been arrested and would soon be transferred to the State CID for investigation.
He however disclosed that the Honda Civic car had since been handed over to the owner, while the Carina E is still at Makurdi as it developed engine problem.
