Twin blasts kill 5 in Borno

Twin suicide at­tacks believed to have been car­ried out by Boko Haram bombers in two Borno communities have killed no fewer than five people.
A security source said a male suicide bomber in Kimba village, south of Borno attempted to en­ter the market and sud­denly his bomb exploded prematurely, killing two people. A woman and her baby were also injured in the process.
“Today is Kimba mar­ket day and some suicide bombers attempted to in­vade the crowded market on Friday morning but were prevented by some vigilante members. How­ever, the bomb-laden vest of the suicide bomber ex­ploded prematurely and two people died at the scene,” the security said.
The blast occurred at about 9am yesterday in Kimba some 55 kilome­tres to Biu, headquarters of Biu Local Government.
Also in Sabon Gari, few Kilometres to Kim­ba, another female sui­cide bomber detonated explosive devices at a security checkpoint and killed three other persons. “She was on queue at the checkpoint, unknown to them she was carry­ing IEDs She is a Boko Haram suicide bomber. She killed three other persons”, a police source said.
